That was beautiful, Spartan. :D

Getting drunk's fair enough, but the sex does seem at odds with Veeger's personal philosophy.

I haven't ever gotten very drunk, though. I've never liked the taste of anything with alcohol. :/

In all seriousness, what you do is between you and the Lord because at the end of the day, it's your choice and consequences. This isn't to be confused with apathy. :P

Drunken sex doesn't sound appealing because of the risk of vomiting. *shudder*

At first sign of this thread I just about quaifed a cat. Then I saw who made the thread and my rage has simmered. Is it just me or is there too many drunk threads on now? Sheesh, it's just about Canada day so I'm about to get all drunk. Because of the relative high humidity of these though I can't really spice things up enough anymore :(

Congrads though Veegs, next on your agenda? Probably running from town if you got the chick pregnant.

LMAO -- ladies and gentlemen, might I remind you that I attended the Citadel for three years? The school is built upon seniors sharing their drinking wisdom and experience to the Knobs, who are just beginning their drinking experiences. The school is a haven of 200 years of drinking wisdom, experimentation, and results. I would bet on my outdrinking most of you here. Most, mind you -- I'm sure some can out-drink me, but I doubt it would be by much.

Those 9 beers I drank last night? Yeah -- one hour and thirty minutes. ;-)

PC and the others who were appalled at my sex comment, surely my penchant for irony and kidding around should have lead you to believe that I was joking. I didn't have sex last night, I laid down and passed out.

Now, with referrence to the "omg! he's going to have sex before marriage?!", let me ask you something. What makes you saved (ie: a Christian)? Is it the baptism, or your confession before Christ? The baptism is important, and you should and need to do it: but that is not what saves you. It is the personal confession, acceptance of Christ's sacrifice, and repenting of your sinful past.

Repeating the marriage vows on your wedding day and touting your marriage certificate does not make you a married couple: it is the monogamous mindset. The belief that you and your spouse share that you will love, care for, and live for no other. In our minds, and we believe the eyes of God, we are already married. The ceremony itself is a technicality. An admittedly wonderful and enjoyable technicality, but still a technicality.

Oh, and to Nuts: Molly gave her virginity to me seven months ago, when she came to visit me after Christmas, and I gave mine to her at the same time. She is the only woman I want to have sex with, and barring any tragic event happening soon, she will be the only woman I ever have sex with.

I just kept laughing and pointing at people. It was great ^_^

Quit bitching over how many beers constitute light or not.

Not everyone is 500 pounds and have to drink 35 beers to get hammered.

So that's all you need to get married? And you're "already married" in "the eyes of God"? This coming from "homosexual marriage will cause social decline"? But what if they have the "monogamous mindset"?

Double standards, ftw.

Black.Ice

Veeger never stated the exact phrase that "homosexual marriage will cause social decline". The topic was renamed and slightly misconstrued.

Just an FYI.

Schwitzer
07-02-2006, 4:30 AM
The topic wasn't actually renamed.

I split a chunk of posts out of another thread because they were on a completely different topic, and evolving a discussion. As is the practice when splitting threads, the new thread needed a name. Hence, I gave it the title "Homosexual marriage will cause social decline", which I felt summed up the general line along which the debate was running.

Unfortunately, several people have become rather more fixated on the thread title than what was actually said within it.

Veeger's opinion concernign marriage is the same as mine, really -e.g. if two people were left on some deserted island and they wanted to be husb+w, but no Priest...? I wouldn't be bothered. Veeger doesn't need a certificate to say he's married and I imagine he's already made personal vows of one form or another to his fiancee... being as they're getting married. ;)

Although personally I will wait, mainly because I'd be drowned in the negative comments of my Churchm but also 'cause it's a bit like opening Christmas presents before Christmas Day... you know what I mean?

Also, it's not double standards - homosexual marriage isn''t the same as heterosexual marriage. It's not double standards when relating to a completely different issue. Even if the two men have a monogamous mindset, the fact that they are two men is what was being discussed, rather than 'are they married'.

In response:

It's not even making the vows before your wedding day: it's the monogamous mindset. No stipulations, just have that good mindset. And don't change your mind!

What this really looks like to me is Veeger is looking for a way to do what he wants and still stick to a moral high ground. "We're already married in God's eyes." Right, so that way you're an exception to the "no sex before marriage thing" because you're already married! It's such a perfect coincidence!

And then if someone gets cold feet and breaks the engagement, what happens to all that rhetoric?

hammocksleeper

It's not vows, a monogamous mindset, or a marriage certificate that makes you married. Marriage is a sacrament, Holy Matrimony. Unless you have gone through the process of completing the sacrament, you are not fully married in my eyes.

Nuts

I got married for the tax benefits and free sex.

Oh, and to set the record straight, the sex part was a joke -- I really was drunk, however. Not so bad that I didn't know what I was doing, but certainly drunk. If you want, I'll have Molly and my sister, kathy, sign on and tell you the story.
