I've thought about this for a while and wondered what others opinions on this subject were. What natrual dissaster would you rather live through? And why would you rather live through that paticular one? I've only put the main ones I could think of in the poll so if you can think of another one then post it.

An east coast hurricane. Reason? I live on the east coast and in my entire life has had only 1 hurricane. It was bad, but I lived. So unless you mean one in like, florida, then yeah.

A volcanic eruption because that sounds more impressive than any of the others.

Note that we are talking about things that could take your home, your possesions, and possibly even people close to you.

Well, I am unable to vote.
No matter witch one of those situations I found myself in, I would want to live.

You said I'd "live through it". If my family could die and my house could be destroyed in any of these natural disasters, I suppose I should choose the coolest sounding one.

Yes I said you'd live through it. But think about the possible implications here. You could lose and arm or somthing. I simply said you'd live through it. I didn't say your life couldn't be virtually destroyed. (Just throwing that tidbit in there as an info.)

Personally i dont see how that makes a difference...what difference does it make that your life will be destroyed? If it's gonna be destroyed for all of them then how does that play a role in deciding?

Anyways, i'd like to live through any that come my way. Most likely is a tornado, already lived through one, but that isnt very exciting so i wont vote.

So we're supposed to pick the weakest one or something? It sounds like you're trying to convince people to, popping up with "Oh but your family could die too, I never said they wouldn't.." I mean, I was gonna say volcano too, because everything else is like...meh, and if my life is gonna be destroyed, I'd kind of rather have it destroyed by something cool like a volcano than something lame like an east-coast hurricane. And what about gulf-coast hurricanes? Are they not worthy of the poll?

...

So then what's the difference anyway? Do you have a better method of deciding then what sounds cool? I mean honestly, if your arm was missing and somebody asked you about it, would you rather say "I tree fell on it in a tornado" or "I got caught in a magma flow and it melted off".

Tree fell on it.

I have to agree with this one!

A fucking volcano spitting up ash and lava sounds much cooler than any of those. It may be my small case of pyromania speaking for me, though.

Hah, a tornado easily. I've lived through like 20 of those. They aren't scary.

Tornado. It's not too new to me, but I think it'd be cool to be one of those guys who got carried four miles away and lived to tell about it.

What would you rather live through?

None. Why would I and some people would want to live through a natural disaster? This is negativity.

Tsunami for me! :smirk:

Volacano. I'm going to be logical here and use the fact I live in Britain. Therefore, I'd most likely have to be caught up abroad to be affected by one of these things. An Eruption is really something to tell the guys at home about, and my family would likely be with me, so if I survive, cahnces are they survive too. I chose Volcano because it's just freaking cool. Yeah, slightly Pyromaniac.

Of course, I'd also like to survive what is known as a 'Spam Cascade'

I voted hurricane, but that was before I completely understood the question. I thought 'well, I'd have best chances surviving that with my entire family and house intact. My house is made of brick, in the middle of a city fairly shielded of wind and shit. so yeah.'
If I was gonna make it no matter what, I'd definitely choose Tsunami. I'd surf it!

My opinion of bad to worst: I'm assuming you mean the worst possible cases
A tornado, while it might to a lot of damage it wouldn't affect the entire region cutting of relief.
Hurricane, affect the whole region, destroys lots but not as much damage as the lower ones.
Earthqauke shelters will be leveled, thousands of people will be buried alive untill they starve, roads will be destroyed preventing relief and seperating you from other people (kinda hard to walk over rubble) and helicopters find it differcult to land, all of that assuming you don't get buried for days, can happen with a hurricane, much more likely with earthqauke. Lastly no warning unlike 2 above.
Tsuamai, same reasons as the 2 above, except there is a higher chance you will be watching people die and/or thinking you will die because there is a tide of water crushing your bones, one thing hearing the violent screams of a storm or crushing stone, another thing to hear your own violent screams from crushing water. And harder to rebuild when everything is left underground
And worst off, volcano, for reasons mention above and because you can't rebuild afterwards, you might not want to but you can't salvage anything either because your house is several metres underground. Of course no one survives a powerful volcano.

I've always thought it would be CRAZY to see a tornado up front and for real... That gets my vote. :o

I selected Tsunami. Because assuming the Oceanigraphic Institute actually got off of their butts and properly warned us in time, I could run up my ladder onto my roof with a lawn chair and a bag of popcorn, and watch the show.

Lol, yea great show...

@ Everyone who was talking about the implications I stated: I simply put those in there as pointers. It doesn't mean it's going to make any difference I just thought that those little things might wheigh in on your opinion a little. No big deal.

Tornadoes - been there, done that
Hurricanes - been there, done that
Earthquakes - been there, done that
Flash Floods - been there, done that
Avalances - been there, done that
Droughts - been there, done that

Volcanic eruptions - No volcanoes in TN afaik
Tsunamis - no tsunami's in TN, not going to happen anytime soon either

The only reason I'd not wish to go through that is because it would be slightly sadistic to wish a tsunami upon others simply because of my wish to go body-surfing on the greatest wave ever.

Cow-a-fucking-bunga.

volcanic eruption, clearly.

of course, to me, this suggests a volcano just sprouting up in the middle of town and raining hell down everywhere.

I know it's fun to do that to entire cities and rain hell on my creation, only to rebuild it and destroy it later. I am surely the worst god ever.

Did you ever put your powerplant in front of an air port? Yeah... that was hilarious.

Anyway, bring on the hurricanes, Nature. Florida has droughts just about every damn year... give us something horrendously destructive in more plentiful numbers.

Just in case anyone wanted to know, I picked Tornado. I somehow like the tingling sense i get when there's tornado warnings everywhere.
