As the title says above.
Is the WOW battle system based on the core rules ADnD, like in Neverwinter or Baldurs Gate.
Or is it based on some other core system, somebody please tell me.

Eh, it isn't strictly based on any set of DnD rules, as NWN, IWD, etc. are, but it could be seen as a variation of the traditional rules. But I mean, any RPG, and most of these MMOgames are based on DnD, so that doesn't really say much.
In WoW, each character is given the following attributes:
Strength - Improved chance to block, improved chance to critical hit
Agility - Improved chance to dodge
Stamina - Increases health points
Intellect - Increases mana points
Spirit - Increases health and mana regeneration.
You also have these set attributes that affect how you will fare in battle - these are based on your equip, and the aforementioned attributes:
Attack - Attack Rating
Power - Attack Power
Damage - Weapon Damage
Defense - Defense Rating
Armor - Physical Damage Reduction
I'm not exactly sure how the battle system works, though I do believe it works as most MMO games do, using a real-time-esque environment. It doesn't follow the strict battles that most DnD rules use though. Instead of using rounds to determine the amount of time that passes in between attacks, Blizz uses attack speed, spell casting speed, etc. In the end, it works out to give virtually the same effect though. Think Diablo II, except 100% times better and not-so hack/slash.
I'm not sure what else you'd like to know X_x. But if you come up with any specific questions, feel free to ask.

It reminds me of Astonia. Your guy attacks automatically, but you have to time your spells and special abilities to make his fighting as effective as possible for the situation.

You think they made their own engine for this game?

Itīs possible.
Hence therefore the question.
But I donīt really know.
We will just have to see.

Of course they made their own engine. The game engine is what controls graphics, interface, etc.
However, it appears that the battle system is loosely based on DnD, as most any RPG is, since DnD pretty much started it all.

Sounds like FF11 to me, but FF11 allows you to change your job throughout the game, and allow Sub-Classes (like in FF3 (Japan Only) and FF5 (Origionally Japan Only, then ported to PSOne);) (They all came out before WoW ;))
