I'll be changing my 'net tariff (I dont know the correct word) next month but I am worried not to get swindled (haven't heard that one in a while huh).
My current tariff is 8KB/sec international connection (and about 6MB/sec local traffic, but that doesent really matter) for about.. 14$ a month.
And Im planning to swich for 24KB/sec international traffic, 40KB/sec connection to sites hosted in my country. For... 11$ ! Im like wtf now?! There must be a catch, right?! What is the policy of a prestegious internet provider is what I wonder? When I change my tariff (I dont know the correct word) do I have to pay for re-wireing (we're talking abou' cable internet), because in order to swich I have to pay extra, although the provider only changes my IP.. Not quite fair from my point of view.
And I was allways wondering what are prices where you live.
(adressing the reader)
Cant explain more clear, Im not much into terms..:shiftyr:

I have Verizon internet dsl for 15$ a month. I'm pretty sure it's something like 100kb/sec or something.
Oh ya, NEVER GET DIAL UP. Just incase you didn't know :)

What country are you in, EvilEmpire?

In Hawaii, my cable internet connection costs me $41.95/month and I get about 500 KB/sec download and 40 KB/sec upload (actual speeds, not advertised).

Although here such services like internet are still expensive (ex-socialism and such...). ~42$ there is something like that here too, costs 25$ for 300+KB/sec quite the same actually. Strange thing is that much slower connection speeds dont cost much less, kinda sucky when a person doesn't have much money.

T1s are pretty useless.

Almost any decent broadband is faster. The only reason to get a t1 is if your a business and/or running a server.

For example, my basic service is over twice as fast as a t1.
