Here's just to remind you of the Mech RPG.

Scene 6 is complete, I'll upload it later when I get home. Scene 7 is going to include that great action scene ZeroDarkStar devised.

Please, think of more action scenes, and think of a name of the evil race. Hyperlisk is what it's called right now, but that doesn't sound evil at all.

7 concrete scenes, up to Rhino on max scenes though. He's creating the story.

scene 7 I think has the coolest action scene. After that, we just need to go back the the present, stop the place, and then to the future once more. I think I'll change the story when I get there though...

Legion of the Abyss and The Swarm of The Cresent both sound really good! Let's have a vote. I like Legion of the Abyss better (sorry ZeroDarkStar) how about you guys?

No biggie. Just answer me this: Are the Aliens organized? Or are they like the Zerg, where their main stategy is to rush en masse? If so, "Legion" sounds too orgainized.

The aliens are organized. They're Protoss-ish.

Well, there are two aliens.

One is the Genosis. And the other, is the Legion.

Both attack in fleets. But of course, I would agree, the Legion does attack en masse. Good thinking ZeroDarkStar.

Why can't you just use Swarm of the Abyss or Legion of the Cresent (whichever it is, I can't think very well right now)? Nobody says that it has to be one or the other...

Okay, I've already chosen. It's going to be Swarm of the Abyss, and just Abyss for short. Unless someone comes up with a better name.

Now, think of good action scenes we can have in-game. Apart from bounds.

I've got it!

Okay. This is what I'm thinking. You have a slim strip of platform out in the middle of space. There's about 7 missle turrets, all lined up. You take control of a civilain, and there's mutalisks trying to get by the platform. You have to move your civilain to a missle turret to take control of it, and blast the mutalisks out of the sky. When you move your civilain away from the missle turret, you lose control of it. So, you have to move your civilain around the platform, taking control of different turrets and trying to blast the mutas out of the sky.

Each player has his/her's own platform, and you can't let X number of mutalisks by.

Wow ZeroDarkStar, I've already completed scene 7, with your nice dodging idea. I think this is going to be the best RPG I've ever played.

In scene 8, the heroes need to get some minerals and/or gas so they can build a few nukes. Have you got anymore of those good ideas up your sleeve? I mean, where would you get minerals or gas in the middle of outer space...?

And for your defending mutalisks idea, cool! It actually fits perfectly with what I had in mind for scene 8/9. It's so useful to have someone else thinking up ideas, because it makes me think about different directions I could go with the story.

I'll try to put that in (or something close to it) as well. I'll look at that file thing when I get home.

...wait a second. Final exam, Monday. I should probably study...

Make them have to raid a resource depository, sneaking in or going in by force. Then escaping, several small or one big trip(s) would be neccesary.

Resource depository, that is a good one. But how exactly are they going to raid it? I know!

There should be some sort of puzzle that represents the breaking/picking/hacking of its lock. We could have more than one lock too.

Well, they could either break in the front entrance and hold hostages(or be stupid and rush in and grab crap) and face the police, or they could sneak in via air ducts(and go through the duct system silently) and end up at the vault, picking the lock.

The lock could be simulated with unit labels or something, and you either guess at the code until you are found(people check up once in a while, so you have to dart back into the duct), or you unlock it. The code would be most likely told to you beforehand if you do things correctly.

If you still want a second idea, you could also have them land on an asteriod and mine minerals from that.

Heh, too much action makes the game cheesy, doesn't it? Although, crashing asteroids would be so cool.

I'm going to go with the 'break the lock' idea. Hmmm... maybe I could make it work like the one in StarCraft: Ghost. I'll think about it.

Hold on, I have a final exam on Monday. Scene 6 and 7 were completed. The storyline is almost finished. Just three more important points in the storyline I believe.

Heh... I didn't know that was important to the triggers... okay, the heroes in the game are actually elite CIA or something agents. That's why they're ghosts and have cloaking and so on. They're infiltrating some (Russian?) installation. It's just to let the audience know that these guys are abducted in the middle of their jobs.

Maybe at the end, we'll return them to that exact spot and let that explosion go on... although, there is already a huge ending explosion...

EDIT: I just read through the script on the server....

That's amazing. Now I have an instable urge to see scene 6.

Hmm... I wanted it so that the player would have to use their imagination, since the whole place would be under the fog of war. We should try to have lots of sounds to make up for it. I just think it's a nice way to start the map. It gives a sort of 'uncertain' feel to it, because you don't know what is under the fog.

Also, I've been wondering whether you think there's too much to fit in one map? We might be hitting the string limit? I've made it so that you can rightfully end part 1 at the scene 6 if you need to. We can release part 2 a few months later. Keep the people in suspense.

Doom, I just played scene 1. Man, it looks cool. The sounds really surprised me, even though I knew they were going to be there. The thing is, I don't think the players are going to go along and stand right next to the anti-matter generators.

Also, at the start of scene 2, all the players need to be in a certain place on the platform. I haven't decided where, but that area between the two top generators looks good to me. Do you think it would look bad if we just teleported everyone there?

And I'm thinking of a really good way to end the map's story. I think, there is only going to be one or two more scenes. I'm really excited, but there are like three or so things I want to happen at the end and it's beyond my brain size, I can't keep them all in my head at the same time. Maybe I should bounce my ideas around with you when you come online tomorrow.

I think the first thing we're going to do is remove those spinning solar panels. Abandoned platforms don't have spinning solar panels.

This morning, I just had the best idea on how the lock should work. Could we make it like a mastermind game, or is that too much triggering?

And, when they enter the vault, they need to discover something either very disturbing about the platform, or something that compels them to go in search of something on the platform. Either way, they must be distracted from nuking the ion cannon.

I've been thinking, perhaps some very disturbing research, like cloning or something that makes the heroes want to destroy the research. Or maybe, if they suddenly decide to turn off the platform before destroying the ion cannon? That would work, but it sounds boring to me.

So please, somebody think of what disturbing research could be going on a heavily defended platform?

There could be....Genetics engineering on live, adult subjects, testing the effects of mind-altering drugs.
Some things they could do:
Mindless zombie warriors
Immune to pain, get angry
Can explode self
Perfect soldier
Emotionless

telepathy stuff

They have to be realistic, like the rest of the story has been so far. Kinda.

Ooh! A massive viral bomb that can kill in seconds once infested, and causes the corpse to explode, killing any who escape the disease.

Heh, I thought about it more and I felt the story was getting too full.

Anyway, the entire storyline to the Mech RPG has been completed. Have a look on the map file server. w00t! That's four months of work for me. Now I can move onto a different project. Well, first, a unit conversion list is coming up.

All we need is a triggester and a little bit of terrain modification. And some proof readers. And someone to write the credits.

As far as I know, Dark_Soul and I are the only ones with animated sigs on WarBoards, so it really isn't everyone.

BTW, all I'm seeing for my sig is a red X. Is that what you guys are seeing?

I'm looking for a few people who have absolutely no idea about the storyline of this project to read the scripts I've written, and make sure that the storyline is presented in the best way possible.

A good proofreader will
Give positive feedback
Give negative feedback
Give suggestions as to how parts of the script could be rewritten.

If you want to proofread, we won't expect you to proofread all our other projects, although that would certainly be appreciated. You will be credited in the map where credit is due. Just reply in this thread saying you want to proofread, and if I think you're a good (trustworthy) person I'll email you the scenes so you can look through them.

Is there a difference between what story you're sending to proofreaders and what story you uploaded to the BS server? I've already read what was on the server (well, there wasn't a scene 8 or 9), and I couldn't quite follow along. So if there is a difference, I wanna proofread!

That's right EdvardMunch, it's a bit like the staff forum. Keep it secret or you'll lose your access sorry to say it. And yeah, all the scenes I will be distributing will be identical to the versions on the map file server. I'm not going to give everyone who asks... I'm just giving the scenes to the people who I think I can trust.
