I was going to start a gnome hate-thread, but I felt this was more constructive :) I think they should have had Naga/High Elf thrown in there somewhere as races. I mean, High Elf is so much cooler looking than those midget gnomes. Anyone else agree?

I don't like elves. I don't like the purple NE elves. I think they look comical and I really thing they've taken the whole far east thing to an extreme. Naga... eh. I think it should work out pretty well.

You're underestimating the Gnomes.

I like blood elves. Personally I have always been a fan of Gray Elves from Dnd.

Well, I thought over this for a while myself, and realized Blizzard is planning this perfectly.

Obviously Gnomes aren't exactly popular right now, as they haven't been in Warcraft since #2. They were virtually replaced by the dwarven folk in #3, and now people new to the Warcraft games are in confusion as to where these friendly folk came from. Although they may not be as viable for a spot in the game release, as say blood elfs would have been, there is likely reasoning behind all of this.

As with every great MMORPG, WoW will definately have expansion packs, in order to add new content, and new features. It is likely that we'll see the aforementioned races in these expansion packs. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Blizz decided to make an entirely new third faction, with blood elves, naga and say . . . the crypt lord and his army of spiders and bugs :P. There's limitless possibilities, depending on how much Blizz wants to work on the expack.

Now, why would Blizz do this? #1 to make us wait, and actually want us to buy the expansion, and #2, to keep the storyline intact, as they want it.

Now, some of you may be pondering, "Why didn't they put Goblins in, instead of Gnomes. Goblins are a lot more prevalent in the later warcraft series!" Blizzard stated earlier that they were thinking about putting in Goblins, but decided against it, after realizing that there were already far too many neutral goblins around the world, and it would add to the confusion.

Anyway, I think the races are great as they are. As for the Gnomes joining in, hey, who doesn't want to go clear out Gnomeregan!?

Well said Radlin, well said. I agree with you completely.

Blood Elves, StoneMaul Ogres, Goblins, Pandarian

Blood Elves: Mage, Warrior, Priest, Hunter

StoneMaul Ogres: Shaman, Warrior.... hmm maybe not. A Race with just two classes linked wont spark a lot of interest.

Goblins: Rouge, Warrior.... Blarg-_-

Pandarian: Shaman, Warrior, Hunter, Rouge. Yes Pandarians I trust can be great Rouge's, dispite them being a bulky race.

I think they look comical and I really thing they've taken the whole far east thing to an extreme.

Eh Far East??..
The Pandaeran Brewmaster is far east not the elves.

And I was wondering,If you play as the undead, would you be a part of the forsaken or Arthas' undead

Yeah, I was thinking that Naga/Blood Elves would come in an expansion pack as well. But then again, by the time this "expansion" comes out (knowing how Blizzard operates), the two races won't be as fresh. Im hoping they introduce more races, and the idea of a new faction is very interesting, but it would mess up the dynamics of the game because then this new faction would be lacking in players since by the time an expansion is released, the Alliance/Horde players would already be well-established in their respective factions (sorry for the run-on).

I completely forgot about the Pandaren- there's also that half-ogre / half-orc race. Anyways, I guess we just have to wait and see what Blizz has in store for us.

It really doesint matter how many people will play on what faction. It comes down to people having fun, not balance in player numbers.

The only way a third faction would work is if the third faction is neutral. I mean, by the time the possibility of a third faction is available, there will be some level 60 chars in the other two factions. And if there is some kind of faction vs. faction PvP, the third faction would get crushed because they will be so young. This would make it NOT fun for the people in the third faction.

And speaking of a third faction, don't even talk about it unless Blizzard says something about it.

Hahaha, so now we're not even allowed to speculate pogi? I can talk about a third faction if I want!

If they were to add a third faction, I am 100% sure Blizz wouldn't allow any seige on the third faction cities. And considering the info we've been given about PvP in WoW, there would be absolutely no 'crushing'. If you don't know what I mean pogi, read this article here:
http://www.worldofwar.net/articles/visit2004/pvplayer.php

A third faction is quite a viable option in WoW, as WoW doesn't have your average PvP system. You will only be able to do PvP battles in the designated areas blizzard makes. Any other 'duels' will not kill the character. If there was a third faction, I'm sure it would have an equal number of players as the other factions, and I'm sure they'd have just as much fun :).

Goodness people. The reason to not add a third faction because of players being level 60 is just dumb -_-

If the third faction is on Draenor then it wont be easy for Azeroth charecters to go pwn Draenor charecters that easy. It all comes down to opening portals after all.

Hey If you play as the undead, then would you be Arthas' undead or part of the forsaken?..

Also I think it's kinda sad for all of the orcs to be dubbed bad....there should be some relaxation to the old hatreds..it would add 'nother depth to gameplay.
I mean by wc3exp act 3 At least Jaina's Humans and Thrall's Orcs knew each other to be "good".,

The Forsaken. The Undead Scorge are mindless and controlled. If you were one of them. You would just watch your guy play for you while you eat Fritos and some Pepsi.

Bah, I prefer Hawaiian Punch and Miss Vicki's Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar chips :D.

Tranquil, the Orcs have always been deemed bad in the humans' eyes because when they first arrived in the land, they were corrupted, and like the undead, they were war-driven mongrels. They threatened the very existence of human life, so the humans fought back. The Humans are not going to give up their grudge entirely, simply because of this new threat.

It's true they're both fighting for the same thing, but they don't agree on the means to which they can achieve an undead-free land.

I'm also sure WoW will bring forth a new point of view, as to why the factions are so prevalent now.

Yeah I know, the daemons caused them the bloodlust they had.

But there have to be some humans (especially under control of Jaina Proudmoore) that don;t hold that deep a grudge. It would be interesting to see this point permeate into the game somehow.
It might be even a start of a civil war amongst the humans..(too far?)

Hmm, I suppose anything is plausible. For all we know, we may see some serious faction changes as the game develops. I won't rule it out, but I still think it's highly unlikely that an orc would befriend a human, and vice versa :P.

The smarter of people over on BNet forums all agree with me that Jaian will be nuetral to both factions and serve more as a safe ground for both factions.
