View Full Version : A delete post option

I thought that there was an option where if your post was the last post of a thread, you could delete it. Maybe I'm behind the times but that option seems to be removed.

My recommendation is that it should be returned. This is primarily because the "Submit post" button keeps pausing after I press it. Although the post has been submitted, the screen is still on the "post new reply" stage. Consequently, either the post has failed to be submitted or the screen has simply not progressed. Usually I end up pressing "submit post" again, and it (usually) works. Often I do not want to click out of it since usually the posts take a long time to write (especially the IR ones). Resultantly.... I seem to double post a lot and can't fix it by deleting one of them.

Unless I've missed something, I can't see any harm that would come out of this. I only mean the last post of a thread. It could also, if someone wanted to, mean that somebody could delete their entire post if they thought "uh oh, don't like the sound of this. I'll delete it before one of the mods do", or "Ok... I have just found that I asked something which has already been answered! I have to delete before I look like an idiot!"

Thanks for your time. :) ;)

There is a bug in the forum, I have made it known to the powers that be. Double posting should be impossible with Vbulletin, yet somehow they are getting through.

Click once and wait. Don't click again.

If you've clicked once, and the page is "working" just open up a new tab/window and check the forum of the thread you just posted in. If your name shows up as the last person to post, then your good.

There should be no reason to click the submit reply button (again), it will always result in double posts. Unless your behind a very slow connection.

Something else you might consider is posting via the Quick Reply. If you do that, there is less risk of you double posting.

I dunno :/ What connection do you have to the net?

I actually think you should be able to delete any of your own posts if you later decide you are wrong. It would also be very handy in IR, if you kinda forget where you are...

i can't allow a delete post function, sorry.

double posts should be auto-merged anyhow.

Grand idea, so when someone posts something that later gets torn to shreds they can just delete it? =P

Its not really that important anyways, why would you need to delete your own post past double-posting issues?

They don't always. Therein lies the problem.

They haven't been working properly for some time now. Double posts are occuring when editing and adding attachments. I have doubled posted 3 times in the past month that I can recall.

shucks, guess you'll have to deal with it.
