Damn, I missed that thread, sorry Neo.
Did you hear the later shot down rumour of it being based on kirk/spock when they were young? =/
I really want to see a DS9 movie, or even a New Frontier one.
I'm still pissed about Data being destroyed. That was so lame :/

I had not heard about the death of Data when I saw Nemesis, it took me quite by surprise, though I dare say B4 will fill his shoes in any future instalment of TNG, maybe even going back to a more bungling Data that all the fans did love.
The young Kirk/Spock script seems to be the one that is being most talked about, I don’t know how it will go, it might be good, it could well be the final nail in the Trek coffin.
I don't know if I agree that DS9 would be good movie material, though in fairness I should say I was never a big fan of DS9. I liked TNG and Voyager but DS9 always seemed to lack some thing for me. Plus I always find Cardasian's annoying.
Well I think we need to get away from TNG/VOY (voy was concluded pretty nicely anyways -- now that Janeway is an admiral and all). Plus we need to also stay away from early trek timelines (enterprise good lord, what were they thinking?).
DS9 would make a good movie -- plus its not like they'd need to come up with a script or anything, there is already a "revival" of DS9 via the books (realistic to, nothing thats to "out there" in terms of canon-based stuff -- at least nothing as crazy as Genesis Wave or Invasion! series).
At any rate... New Frontier would also be a cool thing to do, since Calhoun is so cool, and his crew is such a motly mix of true aliens, Brikar, Vulcan-Romulan, Vulcan in love with a Hermit, Hermit Dual-Gender, etc... Even recycles a couple characters from TNG, plus there would be room to get a cameo of Picard in there XD
Meh I don't know. I just hope that if it does feature the TNG Crew, its not something mundane... It would be cool to see it created in a way that might help to relaunch the series.

Kinda sad how after Roddenberry passed away, his dream died with him, other then First Contact, seems everything after TNG was just lukewarm. I wonder if William Shatner will try oh so hard to get a part in the film, maybe as Kirk's Dad or something, ha.
The problem is, that set them on the road to 'making everything dark' which was kinda the antithesis of what Star Trek was all about.
Still, Borg are cool.

A young kirk/spock idea sounds stupid and insipidous. I'm the son of a die-hard trekkie, and I would never go see that.
In Nemesis, the original idea had been to have Picard die. They changed it to Data because it seemed, to the script writers, that this would be the culmination of Data's "evolution" to becoming a human: sacrificing yourself for another is not logical, and therefore is the epitome of human nature.

Meh, I've never cared much for the Trekkie in me... I think by admitting this dark truth that I will be burned at the stake for my crimes of infidelity... oh well =P
To me it's just another Star Trek movie... I lost track and any interest that existed in the first place after Star Trek: The Movie...
