Hello everyone.
I'm just installing windows xp here on the new HD, SATA drive. But I'm having a problem just after installing MSN messenger. Seems just as though when I try to open the program, my E-mail address has been saved. I do not want this at all, but want the click here to sign in screen instead. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the program, but that has not done the trick. Has anyone here had that problem and knows what to do?

I don't understand why people use MSN Messenger. Just use AIM. Everyone has it. It's a great program, no problems with it or anything. "But I hate AOL they are evil." The AOL ISP is evil. AIM is not; because it is free you can't count it as part of the evil empire. And I've never had any problems with it.
Now someone just told me about this program "Tristyle." That's not the name but it's something with Tri in it. It lets you message ICQ, MSN and AIM from one program. Maybe that's good, I haven't tried it.

Microsoft tends to try and make things "more convenient" for users, but actually ends up making things more of a hassle. I don't see what the problem is, as your MSN messanger screenname should be a hotmail email address. Could you elaborate more? Also, keep in mind that most of us don't use MSN messanger because it's plagued by problems and has a lower user base than AIM.

I think I know what you mean. Like the automatic signin button (ie. click here to sign in as blah blah@hotmai . . ., and below that is in smaller print "click here to sign in as a different user").
Anyway, I found myself in a similar situation not too long ago. I accidentally clicked that little button that saves my email address, and I was on the family side of my computer. I obviously didn't want my entire family to be able to log into my email, so I was in a bind X_x.
So I searched, for a good long while, but I came up empty handed. As far as I know, it's impossible to get a quick "sign in as . . ." button gone, once it's there. However, you CAN change the address that the button has (ie. change it from automatically signing in as your email, to automatically signing into another). What you can do is click the smaller text below that button that says "sign in as a different user", then type in a fake email (ie. "asdf@asdf.ca"), and then click the "automatically sign me in, in the future button", and hit ok. MSN will say that it can't sign in, but it will replace the email address.

The name you're thinking of is Trillian. It combines the AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN, and YAHOO! protocols into one program.
Trillian > Everything. However, if you can, find some way to get your hands on the Pro version, it's much more extensible and has a greater skinning support. For instance, in the Pro version, you can add support of the JABBER protocol, whatever that is ;) and can view the HTML-ized profiles of AIM the way they're supposed to be seen, as opposed to text-only in the Basic version (last I can remember).
