I need some help w/ a special effect

I'm making a map, and I want to make a destroyed little town. I know how to make corpses, but how do you make bloodstains, like on the bonus Orc Campaign on Frozen Throne (when the Shamans die)?

U go to doodads and then- effects, there should be some bloodstains, smokespots there i think...
