I've always been a fan of WC3, and recently really got into it so I decided to take a crack at making a map. But I can't even seem to get started. I made the bare bones of my map, which was just a couple of gold mines and some starting points for a couple of teams. But when I tried to save it I got heaps of compile errors. What did I do? I didn't think I was even far enough in to have stuffed it up!!!

Could you tell me exactly what kinda map you´re making
and what kind of errors you´ve faced?

If you could, then perhaps I could help you out.

I'm making a melee map for Frozen Throne if that's what you mean.
I'm getting stuff like "Unregistered native function", "Expected end of line", "Expected expression", "Expected a name" and the list goes on. And trigger "melee initialisation" has been disabled due to errors.

As the title says above, did you change anything?
Erros such as this can be do to that.
It can also be do to If you changed the player properties or any of the other settings such as Upgrade properties.

Or It can be that your start locations are In valid positions.
Or if you have by mistake Imported any Invalid sound files or
any other file.

As I said, check If you changed any properties or If you have changed the melee Intzallition.
The only thing that Is really ok to change Is the Map Despriction.
Anything else should be left as It is.

Also about the Melee Intzallition being disabled, well If you right click on the trigger you will notice a function that says Enable trigger. It usally works, If not then It might be some Invalid variable In the trigger that you might have added by mistake. Or It can that your World Editor is just messed up.

And also check out If there is more than one region that bears the same name.
Or If you have placed any cameras by mistake.

Tell me If works or not, If not then I will try to be more specific.

Did you try any of what suggested?

Please let me know If it worked.
Otherwise If you want, I could take look at It and edit It for you.
But only If you want to.

Also you have word that I won´t copy your map
If you should want me to edit It.

I haven't changed anything at all. Just added 2 goldmines & 2 spawnpoints. After I added the second spawn I did change the player property from "none" to "user", that's it. I could send you the map, but as of yet it's just a test map with bugger all in it. I haven't added any cameras or regions either.

Well as the title says, did you test the map in that way.
I would advice against It, as the test map function only ruins the map.
Even If It is just a simple melee.

I didn't test it. When I tried to save the map, it compiles it. I got thrown like 5000 errors.

If its ain´t anything you`ve done or changed.

Then the WE or your map might have been damaged by some invalid fragment, or infected by a virus.

You should scan you computer to be safe.

It is a great possibillity.

I actually did a full virus scan just yesterday, all clean. That only seems to leave the possibility of my WE being stuffed. Bugger.

Hmm, then there Is not really much more I can do to help.
But anyway tell me If you should have located the problem.

As I would really Like to know what the error was.

If you've applied the 1.15 patch and you're naughty and using a no-cd crack then worldedit gets these sort of errors whenever you try to save. I struck the same problem so I un-cracked and went back to using the CD.
