Not worth watching, the marketing team done so well to promote the movie, got me fooled in to the cinema and watch such over expectation movie.

Thumb up for the marketing team, thumb down for the producer.

What, exactly, did you dislike about the movie?

From what I hear, the acting was terribly wooden (I have difficulty visualizing Tom Hanks being "wooden", but I'm still going to wait until it comes out on DVD and rent it before making my own observations -- I'm not waisting $8 to watch a movie that "might" be bad), and the director (another surprise, considering the quality of Ron Howard's other films) didn't explain enough of what was going on, so unless you read the book beforehand you get completely lost.

$154 million in two weeks. Wooden or not, the goal of any movie producer is to create revenue and this movie succeeded in a big way. Tom Hanks could be the modern day equivalent of Pinocchio and the controversy would still generate the box office revenues. ;)

I thought it was alright.

Well, Hanks was very dry... Very.

But, aside from his part, Silas and Sophie (Don't know the actors/ress' names), did very well in the movie. Then, Teabing was fantastic!

As for the story, they stayed pretty damn close to the book. There were a few things missing, like the anticipation factor you get from the book. But, that was kind of understandable...

Other than that, pretty good movie.

~7.5/10

My cousin convinced me to watch this movie instead of MI:3. I knew what it was about, and I wasn't really too interested in the story. I'm sure people who were Christian may have thought the movie was a lot more interested than I did.

Critiquing it from a movie point of view, the acting was ok. Tom Hanks did his normal acting style, and wasn't dry. He's always like that. Sophie (don't know actresses name) did a good performance as well.

In some parts of the movie, it seemed to be a little long and carry on for too much. I think it was an attempt to build suspense / anticipation, but I had lost interest in the plot which made me think it was carrying on.

Over all, I think it was an okay movie. The primary reason I disliked the movie was because I disliked the plot. The movie in itself is good, if you're interested in that kinda stuff.

Not true. I didn't read the book and I understood the movie fine. Some parts were a bit sketchy but overall it was fine. Good movie by the way.

Sophie (Don't know the actors/ress' names)
If you're familiar with that French movie "Amelie"... she was Amelie. The movie Amelie was cool too. :)
by the way, i haven't seen Ron Howards movies for a while. The acting stayed pretty cool and not dry through out the movie.

Oh, so Tom has different styles of acting. First time hearing it that way from him. :)

Yes the marketing team definetly did a good job. The film was average. The action was poor... althought the logic of the puzzles was undeniable.

yeah, well options may vary.

Agreed. I think the story was a pile of stinking illogical crap, but I think there's another thread to dispute that.
The movie itself was fairly OK, nothing special. The main attraction would be the plot, but I didn't like it. I'd give it a 7, nothing spectacularly good, but nothing amazingly bad either.

I thought it was good. It could have been better, but I still thought it was worth seeing. Someone who was with me at the time didn't want to see it, came anyway, and ended up thinking it was pretty decent too. And by the way, the actress who plays Sophie Neveu is named Audrey Tautou.

The movie was a decent one although not ground-breaking in directing or acting. There was so much information in the book that they tried to get into the film that at times it was achingly slow. And even then they left some details.

Overall it was a faithful adaptation of the book, Audrey Tautau does a good job and so does the actor who plays Silas.
Hanks seems to play the stowaway on the story , and generally it was like that for the most part in the book as well.
Of course, some critics say that the fact that movie followed the book so religiously was a downer with them.

But whtever, bottom lines make it a hugely successful film.
Go go controversies.

After watching this film and reading the responses, many seem to just discard the movie either because they are uncomfortable with the subject matter or sided one way or the other. I for one found the history extremely informative, even if it's just religious conspiracy theory. I don't really care if it shocks the core of Christianity or not. Christians are too defensive, and theorists think they know everything. Harding said it best, "at the end of the day, one way or another, you believe something..." which I'm trying to quote from memory and probably doing a horrible job of it. Sorry. I'll go punish myself now.

Ian was good...

I kinda went in already hating it because of my beliefs and all, but in the end I thought it was a well brought together story, completely ficitonal, but ok.

I got bored a lot though, and the end with hanks praying was the most akward scene I think I've ever seen.

My mom is a librarian, I read about as much as her, and she said she read the book but didn't like it, she said she won't go to the theatres to watch it but wait till it comes out too rent.
