I respect the classical stuff, but I need high energy music to get me pumped. That's why I like Disturbed, Korn, Rammstein, and alot of other stuff like that.

ACDC!!!!
Hot damn, Angus is god!
His guitar solo on 'The Jack' or the riff on 'Thunderstruck' are simply amazing. Plus they're unbeatable live.
There's another song I really like from a really old band called 'the Kinks'. I've only heard one song from 'em but it's great. "Sunny Afternoon'
Old School, I know...:)

Rancid (possibly the BEST bass player ever)
- dont believe me? listen to solo of Maxwell Murder.
Nirvana
Metallica
Nofx
Operation Ivy (pre-rancid)
Pinhead gun powder (pre-greenday)
The Vandals
Question : What is Korn?
Spartan-II

I disagree. The Bass player from Primus is amazing! Too bad Primus sucks outloud...

Playing speed isn't much of an important factor in a musician's skill, I mean anyone can play fast if they practice.
some of the Best bands I've heard so far are:
Metallica
Arch Enemy
Children of Bodom
Rammstein
KoRn
Good quality rhythm, atmosphere, tone and mood are what I see in a good band

most of you are into the old school bands and heavy rock like nirvana, iron maden, rammstein wat ever lol how about new bands? i mostly know australian bands lol :P not very well known but i bet it'll own all the old school stuff. ACDC are good i got thier songs on my comp via mp3 via turntable record lol. another good band are LP but they screwed themselves up by making collision course with jay z.
Im not into heavy rock much, but I rather like Poets of The Fall, a Finnish band. You can see one of their songs+video here:

I think it's interesting that *most people listen to one or two genres of music, and usually define themselves by whatever music they listen to.
Music doesn't define a person- it defines a situation. I don't listen to rap, but whenever I play GTA: San Andreas, I want to listen to rap. Why? 'Cause it be gangsta, yo.
The last time I looked, most people have more than one emotion, so why only listen to one genre of music that usually incorporates only one emotion (say, metal and anger)?

i mostly know australian bands lol
I know TWO aussie bands, which both kickass. AC/DC and Jet.
Lot's of critics are screaming and yelling that Jet has no originality or talent, and copy everything from better bands like the Beatles or The Rolling Stones. However, if you just take the songs and listen to them in their own right, it's good fun Rock 'n Roll.
The Who
Lol, my dad was a fan of them :)

I wish CS:S and UT2004 would incorporate an ingame music player. I want to listen to System, Disturbed, and RATM while I snipe noobs.
I actually found a server that had an in-server music player with a limited selection of awesome music. Unfortuantly, when I tried to listen to a song, the ping shot up to ~500 and I was booted out. No idea if it was the server or my computer. And they didn't have Chop Suey.

Newsflash: You can actually turn off background music in the Options menu, and turn winamp on before you enter the game! Ya rly!
I wouldn't listen to music in FPS if I were you, though. It really hurts your focus in-game. You can't really hear if someone is walking behind you, also, etc...
Now, it's really hard for me to decide which one I like the most... Rammstein, Scooter, Slipknot, Abba, Freedom Call, Sum 41, Nightwish, Metallica, Godsmack, Iron Maiden, Nickelback... there's just too many bands I listen too, and I wuv 'em all!
Live? The Darkness I would say are the best Live act I have heard, but I have not been to much live music.
The BEST band I have ever heard are Gamma Ray
although I also like Hammerfall, Dragonforce, Sonata Arctica, AC\DC, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Oasis and Nightwish. As well as dozens of other bloody fantastic bands (most of whom fall under the heading of classic/heavy rock or Power Metal)

Meh, I liked them. Their ballads were god awful but the harder songs like 'Cold Hard Bitch' and 'Get me Outta Here' really were fun.
There are CD's I advise everyone to buy, they're collections of guitar music called 'The Alternative Albums'. I believe there's 4 of 'em out now. They have 18 to 20 tracks with music by bands like Dandy Warhols, Coldplay, Radiohead, Blur and The Black Rebel Motorcycle stuff. It isn't very hard but it's good fun.

I hate to break it to you buddy...but your taste in music is not really all that varied. I see mostly classic rock with a sprinkling of trendy bands like SOAD.
Especially when my top ten most played artists according to my mp3 player are...
Frederic Chopin
Master P
Louis Armstrong
The Beatles
Van Morrison
Mariah Carey
They Might Be Giants
Tom Petty
Led Zeppelin
Kelly Clarkson
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are probably one of my top three favorite bands, actually I just saw them last weekend, but man have they gotten old...they are really slowing down. I like a few local bands too, my friend is in Sparky's Flaw (http://myspace.com/sparkysflaw) which I think is poised for success and I actually genuinely like the music too...
Foreigner is great, I can't believe you are such a big fan, Morkeliph. You are my new favorite person. :)
B.A.B if you consider NWA to be a "band" they are definitely going on my list too. I also like the Cranberries a lot, that's something that people usually look at me funny or nod their head in a weird way when I tell them that.
Oh yeah. Tenacious D's "Tribute" is my personal anthem.

Well, if you hadn't figured, the chorus goes something like this:

age doesnt matter, the perception that bands were better before comes because the bad stuff tends to get forgotten over time.
