So, I was trying to play Winter Assault and was pissed at the lag, noobs, load time, etc. So fuck gamespy; I'm tired of their shit.
Is there an alternative game server program-thingy that doesn't suck like Gamespy?

Nope, there is not.
Actually, I was looking for one and I found one (which I have not played on yet) called Himachi. Sounds promising.

Apparantly that is full of virus' and stuff, so I would not go near it if I were you.
Besides, they're getting rid of Gamespy in Dark Crusade (or so I have heard).

What are they changing to, then? It would be interesting if they used Steam or Battle.net for it.
Hamachi is a local area network emulator, you can play any games w/ lan functionality through it. afaik it is clean software too.
otoh, you need to find the community to play w/ hamachi first.

Really? I actually don't have a lag problem with DoW...

Hmm, I find it hard to see Relic using Steam or especially not B.Net...then again, few other alternatives. Unless Relic try some new fangled network.
AHA! Just twigged! This may hav something to do with this new Multipalyer mode they are banging on about...World Domintaion Tour supporting Server, anyone?
(btw, not confirmed yet)
