No, its not MMO. It just downloads all the other races and things people have made and adds it to the game.

Btw, you can't really pit to races against eachother.

it doesnt download all, think instant messenger client, you have a sort of cotact list and it downloads updates from them, and I know you cant really, or at least I dont think you can pit races against one another but what I am saying is it would be cool.

I know, but I know that the inevitable result will be multiple tyranid races.

Then again, I feel a lot of the original races will be pieced together, well, arbitrarily (what if I put arms on its head and eyes on its ass...).

as pixels said, Wil Wright is marketing it as massively single player.

as in, it will connect to others worlds and take their evolutionary tracts and add those different species to your world, but you won't be directly competing against other users.

EA is/was notorious for yearly updates for sports games sold as a new game instead of a patch.
they make good games at first but lack the persistence needed to make the game stay good (patching.. for balance and bugs). at least it was so when i played some of those EA games, might have got better lately.

I'm not getting that uber-shit vibe from Spore like I do from other EA games. Plus, it seems that Will Wright is having more control over this game's production than other EA titles.

In theroy, that could actually work I think if someone made a super strong dumb race, and someone made a super smart bunch of weaklings, the planets could wage war? mabye. I guess that could work.

I hope there's the option to make the creature's tech and look a lot more, well, fiercer than what was show in the original video. It looked a lot like a kid's game rather than something for more mature gamers (but it's awesome nonetheless).

Yeah, I couldn't care less, but seeing a Hydralisk race with googly eyes is going to be less awesome and more goofy.

I'm still determined to make my technologically-advanced race of weaklings, a la the Prophets in Halo, that will invade other planets and make special hybrids for different purposes :P

For those who would like to make toss or the like. I'll say it can't be done. All creatures in Spore seem to be either VERY short or four legged. You might want to go for gnomes and dwarfs though :P

actually they can be very tall, it mighten be in the video, but on G4, teh host who was desiging a "alien" had the "alien" very tall, also it had short arms, and two mouths.
