I've come to realize that I am the only person I know without a cell phone. It's not because I'm resisting technology or that I'm horribly antisocial (although that is true sometimes) its just because I don't use the phone that much to begin with, and I don't have the money to waste on a phone (and my parents haven't told me to get one either).

Just wondering if there is anyone else on the planet that doesnt have one. :)

I also don't have one. :(

I just borrow my mother's when I need to.

I don't, simply because in my current circumstances, I really don't need one - the normal phone is enough for me, at the moment.

When necessary, I'll borrow my mother's.

See, I don't even do that. When I go out I just use my friends' -- I never carry a cell phone of my own.

The reality of having a wife and two children is that emergencies could arise. A cell phone is unrivaled in terms of speed, convience, and coordination. I dislike them heavily, but I also dislike the marry-only-one-female law too. Some things you just have to tolerate. :/

I have one, not through choice, but through a lack of landline and unwillingness to pay 100 dollar installation fees . . .

When used with a certain amount of courtesy and etiquette, cell phones can be a very valuable addition to your life. I use my cell phone a lot, it is where I store all my friend's numbers so I don't have to remember them. It allows me to text people messages when they are in class. And as a college student I'm never really in one place for any extended period of time so it's nice to have a mobile phone where people can reach me.

Nope, don't have one; I probably will however get one when I get off to University.

Hrm. I've had one for roughly four to five years, it's how my family keeps in touch. It wouldn't work otherwise.

Have had one for over two years, and do need it.
I agree with HS that when used properly they are very valuable.

Although when I asked some of my friends why they did not have one.. they said

"What ?? Meaning you want I should make myself voluntarily traceable ?!"
Heh..

Nice phone AJ btw

I have one because my parents thought I needed it to communicate with them after school. I really don't use it that much, and am really quite phobic about phones, but it does the job. Plus, we don't have a landline so cell phones are the way my family works.

I find it funny, the trend of loosing landlines, that is. I wish my parents would do that. I hate answering the phone for them about random shit. Its so annoying :(

The RAZR is popular with my friends, as is TMobile. Theres Verizon in this house, however.

That's the one I've got. I had a better one, but I lost it...so we had to bargain with the people to get this one. I liked the old one better...
I clicked "I have had one for over a year," but now that I think of it, I think I've had one for two. Oh well. I like having a phone, it means that I don't have to stand up when someone calls, I can just reach in my pocket and get the phone out. Same when I have to call someone. It's very useful while coordinating last-minute plans, which I do a lot. I don't stand around talking on the phone very often, but it's really useful to have a cell phone, just in case.

That's how Nokia got into the cell phone business. They used to be like a rubber boots manufacturer, then Finland decided to get rid of landlines to save money cuz all their shit is so spread out, and Nokia jumped on the opportunity and made a killing on it

I've had a mobile phone for... hmm... around five years, maybe? Originally it was given to me by parents to keep track of me, but now it's an integral part of my communication needs.

We originally got rid of our landline on the boat (because we couldn't get one) and got everyone cell phones then. When we moved to the house we just never put one in. My dad might have a business line in the house though, I'm not sure.

My family got it's first cell phone over four years ago. It was more out of need then anything else. We then cancelled it, and then a few years ago, my brother got a cell phone and decided to do a family plan thing. My mom was part of the family plan, and after a while, it slowly became mine (seeing that I used it more then her).

We cancelled that family plan a few months ago, and went with a different family plan, with me officially getting my first phone. With the amount of travelling I'm doing, it's incredibly useful. Also, since our family talks a lot, it's cheaper then long-distance landline bills.

I've currently got a Motorolla RAZR via Verizon Wireless. (Who sucks, by the way). Currently, I'm in a different state using my phone as my modem to write this post... at 14.4kbps :(

LOL. This brings up my other tangent. Any man who thinks he can handle more than one woman needs his head examined.

But as for the cell. the reasons I do not have one are thus. 1) cost. and 2) I work for the damn phone company, talk about bringing work home. jeesh..... I hate phones as it is.

LOL

And use cingular, that way my stock prices go up. and i can retire sooner..... LOL, <evil laughter>

I use verizon... it is evil...

I find my phone to be extremely helpful in emergency cituations. Like if I lock myself out of my car.

I have one, I never used the bugger until I came to university, upon which I found that the landline in my room does not actually work.

Also, a phone is damned useful if one of your hobbies is fishing. Especially given how fast the weather in britain can turn really atrocious really fast.

Sadley, No. I do not own a Cellular phone. But that is good because cell phones emit radiation so when all you rich people out there with cell phones get brain cancer and die I will laugh! hahaha

See Neo's Rant #2 (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=13258) for my feelings on phones.

Besides that:

No I don't have a cell phone. I've considered it, and it might even be a good idea, especailly for what kind of work I would like to get into, but I'm not sure.

I generally dislike phones anyways, because people can be so stupid on them =/

Well you can always be stupid in return. Why do you feel you always have to be on the receiving end of the things that you include in your rants?

Wellcome to the club pal. I don't use one either. Even if I had one I probably wouldn't use it. (Which may be a good thing. ;))
