how to pronounce "creep"

My friend and I are having an argument about how to pronounce "creep", the substance that the zerg build their buildings on.

My argument is that "creep" pronounced with the "ee" sound, like in bee or tree

He says that it's pronounced "crep" like in med or credit

Can somebody please clear this up?
Or better yet lots of people.
