View Full Version : 2x Unit Speed Discovery?

I have recently used a doodad to make the speed of everything , including the units, go twice as fast. Marines, hydras, zerg, anything moves, runs, and shoots incredibly fast...hence 2x speed...
and it wasn't done with a Map Revealer at top left...
Does anyone else know this trick? A missile trap is what I used...
If you know the trick, post how and what you use please because I can't replicate it again! ;/

I think Geno or ZDS once said that placing any unit owned by Player 13 somewhere on the map would do that. I tried it and it didn't seem to work. Then again, he also said that seeing the unit in-game would crash the map, and that didn't happen either. Instead, the unit, a firebat, was mostly black with a lot of cool bright specks. It looked gnarly.
The trick Merov is talking about is that if you place a unit or a doodad or something on a map, it will cause all of the units on it to move and attack 2X faster than normal. The unit itself is just faster, who knows why.
T'was not I saying that. I only read it over at BF. I believe you have to place a player 13 map revealer in SF in the top left grid box, but only in that box, in no others. That speeds it up. But the trick you are currently talking about perplexes me... Hmm...

Ahhhhhhh... a P13 MAP REVEALER! Could the map revealer be created and removed via triggers, so you could turn the fast movement on and off?

Why don't you try it, it would take like 10 seconds...
Create map revealer at location bleh
Wait blah
Remove map revealer at location bleh
Wait blah
Preserve
Put a few units down, create a starting point, and voila! done! Then you would know whether it would work. I'm too lazy to try to remember, and I'm somewhat tired.
Player 13 isn't affected by triggers, last I checked. I don't believe it's able to be toggled. Either it's 2 times, or 1 times... That's just me thinking, though, and seeing as how it's 11:00, I don't really know if that's true :p

There is no way to create a toggle on/off triggers with P13 in it. Heimdal explained that P13-P28 slots are used for All Players, Current Player, Force 1, Foes, Non Allied Victory Players, etc...

But I don't know how to make a trigger fire for P13, (namely, to make a P13 map revealer) and apparently it's impossible anyway. I suppose I could still remove the P13 map revealer by using "all players" though.

It worked for me? Seeing the unit dosn't crash the game but it did speed up the units.
Whats this about a map revealer in the top left?

The cool thing is, if you destroy that unit during the game, the speed goes back to normal!
The trick is to make a unit for Player 13, anywhere on the map.
I do it with a missile trap so it can be hidden and destroyed when I want to.
When you destroy it, the speed of the map goes back to normal.

I don't remember ever saying that. Where did you hear that?
I've heard that computer 63 also speeds up the map, but I've never tested it's validity.

I wasn't sure which one of you said it, I keep mixing you and Geno up. The way the two of you type seems similar to me.

I guess that means we're about equals. Damnit, ZDS, I thought I was greater than you ;) Wait! I know! I am! I've been at BF and WB a LITTLE longer ^.^ That counts for SOMETHING I guess... But your u|33r 1337 post count is pwning me to death... x.x

Twas you! http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=381
Computer 63?
Is it just me or do the units seem to slow down if they are not in a certain radius of the p13 unit? I put the units in a corner of the map but it dosn't seem to affect other areas.
