View Full Version : Installing problems
i don't know if i should be here or in some other forum but it looks like a good place to start.
I'm new at modding but i cant get the vb4runtime to even install and the WinMPQ says it cant read a custom command of some sort so it doesn't even get to the runtime error thingy (you know were it says you need vb4runtime)
can some one help me or point me to someone that can help
Howdy Fred, welcome to our lil' SC editing corner at WB's. :)
And to install Visual Basic 4 Runtimes you'll need to have administrator access on it. After installing it WinMPQ shouldn't present any hassle running. ;)
The other option is that you got the files dl' went wrong and that they're somehow corrupted. You should only go for this one if you're certain that the above one failed after the extra files required for WinMPQ are settled up properly. :shiftyl:
vb4runtime says that it cant update files or shared folder that are already in use but all i have open is it. would vb6runtime work
I believe any version of Visual Basic Runtimes should work, but if it says something about 'shared folder' than the problem is probably lack of administrator access like Basan said.
Is your computer split into several users? Are you on the user called administrator?
i found the problem with visual basic thanx but i still cant get WinMPQ to work it says "cant load custom control mscomctl.ocx" and i have no idea what that is.

*Sigh* Then head yourself here (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=16586) and check under the "MPQ Control" item which in turn is under the "WinMPQ" place (over that list). Those are both the required files to properly run that app, although the control thingie isn't that usual... I never had to install it or so I think. :o
Next time, when having doubts on similar issues, you can always have a peep there n' check 1st. ;)
i found it i googled it an found it was my computer, some program or something anyway it works now thanks

What ever rocks your boat... I always say. Although I had a link with the answer for your issue on my previous post. ;)
None the less, it's solved. Voilá! :)
