They don't hardly celebrate the 5th of may in mexico.
Cinco de mayo = kwanza
Both pointless, stupid and made up by someone who probably doesn't have any reason for it.

Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of the Battle of Puebla, where the Mexicans defeated the French.

Mexican Day of Independence is in September, the 26th, I believe.

kong, cinco de mayo is not big in mexico. You don't know what you're talking about.(though everyone else does)
I love mexican food. Especially tamales(spelling?), not the cheap kind they sell here in the U.S. but genuine good tamales.(they taste awesome)

haha, speaking of weird phenomena with mexican food...

last night my friend told me this story about how she was at dinner at this mexican restaurant for her friend's birthday...well she ordered the chicken fajitas, right? well she was eating her first one and all of a sudden *crack* she bites down on this really hard thing. she pulls it out and it's this hard, white thing the size of a marble. everyone was like, oh it's probably a piece of bone. so she finishes her first fajita and starts to eat the second one. *CRACK* she bites down and again there's another hard thing in her food. she pulls it out and everyone realizes that it's a ROCK. a rock in her food. so she goes to the waitress and is like "there's a rock in my food!" and the waitress is just like, "yeah that happens sometimes." and so the girl is like what the fuck and calls the manager over, and shows her the rocks. and the manager is like "yeah, there may be rocks in your food. we grow our own beans. they are from the earth." that was her explanation: "our beans are from the earth." haha. and so she's like "well maybe you should put some kind of WARNING on the menu or something.

4th of July episode. It has the line "In Mexico, this is known as Cinco de Mayo." Plenty of people pointed out that Cinco de Mayo was not their independence day... and Rooster Teeth replied with "its a joke". Bear in mind Rooster Teeth is in Texas.

Cinco de mayo = 4th of july is a common thought, but it isn't celebrated in mexico.
Tell me about taht show, it doesn't sound very reliable.

I wasn't using it as a reliable source, I know Cinco de Mayo isn't the Mexican independence day, it was a joke.

I see... You're better off using wiki.
Speaking of which.....
"It is a common misconception that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day, which is celebrated on the 16th of September."
"There are some observances across Mexico in varying degrees, but none that match the celebrations in Puebla."
So it's like St. Patrick's day, celebrated, but pointless. Celebrated more in the U.S. then it's nation of origin.
