Actually, I plan to transform the Medic into something called an "officer". It would look like a Marine, talk like a marine, attack like a marine, but be expensive and could have the ability to heal. So - how do I make it attack?

Give it a weapon, the correct orders, and the correct iscript. It won't be able to heal automatically, or attack-move, but hey, you can't get everything in life :/
Also, this thread might help - start reading from page 2:

I actually did this in one of my mods but you had to micro them to attack. Even when zerglings are there raping them they just stand there healing each other... If we understood more about orders.dat and the exe, we might be able to achieve this...
EDIT: this is of course a medic that auto-healed and guarded and attack-moved etc.

I'm actually working on this exact problem right now. It's relatively easy to add an attack for them, the hard part is getting the orders so that they behave both in and out of combat like you want them to. Unfortunately you can't have everything. I haven't found a way so that they will attack move, then stop attacking and heal when necessary, and go back to attacking. I'm not sure it's possible. The best I can do so far is to give them orders like a normal attack unit and when I want to heal just hit A and click the unit. Not near as effective.

I'm a little worried with messing with the iscript.bin. If a more advanced modder could probably send me the iscript, it would be greatly appreciated. Is this a little too much of a favor? I'm worried about the constant crashing. :(

Modding is all about the iscript. Only very elementary mods can be made without iscript editing. Also, if you get into modding, expect to crash SC a LOT. It just happens, nothing really to be afraid of.

Yep. I've been keeping tabs just for the fun of it, and from march to april, I've been getting an average of 5-10 crashes every day I work on my mod.
Of course, the entire point is to produce effects without crashing (any at all, if possible). And that takes time, patience, and a careful eye. Not to mention experience, which is why we don't usually encourage new modders to get into iscript without feeling comfortable around DAT editing first.

My motto - If I don't crash starcraft when I start it up, I'm having a bad day. ;)
It's much more crashing when you get into the exe though....much more.

Just say that one of the modders here decided to do it for you, what would happen when you wanted to create another effect that required iScript editing? If you had no experience prior to it, then most likely you'd still be scared of crashing it and end up asking someone again. Sure you get the effects you want, but you're dependant on other modders to do your work and you will learn nothing. It's hard to reject a ready to use .mpq with everything you dreamed of in it but it'll be worth twice as much if you try and learn it yourself. If anyone offers to do it from now on, reject it. And Don't ask MG cuz he can be a right bitch at these things sometimes, giving out .mpqs as if there was no tommorow (<3 MG <3)
In short, get over your girly iScript phobia and start using ICE or IceCC...

And yeah, well, the suicide mpq was a special case, because you were so obviously PO'ed about it, and I know you know how to do it >.<0
Kazansky - don't be afraid of crashing! It's FUN! :P
