The clan rules are here. Please look them over and comply with them.

Rules:

1. You must be an active member of Warboards to be in the clan. (However you may still join the channel.)

2. This is a voluntary clan. If you are a member of Warboards then you are not required to join if it is not in your best interest.

3. All members of this clan must conduct themselves properly and anyone giving the clan a bad name will be disciplined.

4. The disciplinary measures will be a system of stages.

First Offence: A warning will be given. (One warning)
Second Offence (If in a 48 Hr period): a 1 week ban will be invoked against said offender.
Second Offence(If after a 48 Hr period): A 3-4 day ban will be invoked. (Length is dependant on type of offence)
Third offence(at any time) a 2 week ban will be invoked.
Fourth Offence: Said offender will be booted and will not be allowed back in until after a 3 month period.
Fifth Offence: Offender will be booted permanently.

5. Clan members are to conduct themselves in the highest manner possible. This means:

>no constant swearing.
>no acting provocative
> no overly sexual conduct
>you are to take full consequences for your actions
>you are to play with good sport(if you lose. you lose)
>no hacking
>no dealing (a.k.a. no trading one DII key for a SC key)

6. Please at least try to make an effort to wear the clan tags.

7. You are free to leave the clan at any time.(please notify either me or one of the clan masters before you leave though)

All rules here stated will be strictly enforced by the clan officials. Breaking of these rules will result in just punishment.

Note: These rules may be changed at anytime by the heads of the clan.

The WBs SC Clan Ladder

This is how the ladder is going to work. It'll be pretty much an exact replica of the pgt ladder so if you play pgt then you'll know how it works. If not then read on.

Each player will start with 1000 points. As players play ladder games their score will increase/decrease based on who wins and what the rank of the other player was. This is charted out as follows. There will be a top 25 ranking for now (unless we get 50+ members)

Each rank consists of five slots (aka 25-21 is one rank which would be rank 5) Depending on what ranks you are and what rank your opponent is you'll get points on this system:

Any one below 25 will be in the "pit". The "pit" will be the pool of players that do not have enough points to break into the top 25. These players can play and try to get into the bottom rank by gaining more points than the person sitting at 25. (right now there should only be 2 players in the pit at all times)

To move up ranks players must acumulate more points than the person above them. (eg: If player A has 1500 points and player B has 1450 and player B wins a games that gives him 100 points he'll move into player A's spot and push player A back into player B's origanal spot.) Games vs pit players will count as a 100 point win for the pit player if he wins and a 50 point loss for the ranked player if he loses and vice versa. In order for a game to be counted as a ladder game it must be played on a pgt meele map (non money/fastest and no UMS type meele) and the replay must be saved and given to either me or a clan master. It is ill advised to have anyone obsing a game but that's up to you. No replays before the date the ladder starts will be counted (in other words you can't play a game today and have it count as ladder when it starts on July 8th) In order to keep things a little more fare the ladder will be reset every once in a while (I'll specify times later). Everyone starts in the "pit" and ladder ranks will be given the first day. You are not required to play in the ladder but your name will be in there. (if you don't then you'll probably sink into the "pit"). Players who don't particapate will not get into the "postseason". Other than that there's nothing much left to say for rules except that all clan rules are enforced in the ladder too. (that means no hacking).

We could have a ladder, maybe something fun that people would learn playing from. The better your adversary, the more you learn (except if theres a HUGE level in skill level, like the other one can't do anything before he's dead, but if the better player is mannered he's atleast letting the weaker player have a chance, like I do unless he's all cocky and thinks he's a real gosu or smthing)

Actually i think that its just good to play peoples on your own level (by the way thats the point of pgt) even if you are noob. Maybe it depends of person if youll learn slower vs your own level but for example when ahzz was newbie he played a lot vs peoples much better than him. I on "1v1 noobs" games and now when both have played similiar amount of games we are allmost exactly as good.

yeah. Lammy has caught up alot. There was a time when I was clearly better than him, but later on lammy caught up. He does play a bit more than me though nowadays I think. Hmz. At one time he was just hardcore macro player. I told him like... "Once you can learn some micro along with that macro, you'll become a monster". Well, he did learn it somehow, and that is what took him a huge step forward :o IMO atleast.

A bot keeps a channel open. So like instead of typing in "op Org.Network" when there's no one actually one to play it doesn't say "The channel op Org.Network does not exist. Would you like to create a new channel with this name?"

I've been looking around lately and it has come to my attention that there are a few members who arn't wearing their tags... It is posted in the rules that you need to make an effort to wear them. There is only one person that I've given an exception to for now but that doesn't mean that the reast of you can drop them. Consider this your first warning. If I don't start seeing some name changes for the clan then I'll have to start dropping some people. ".WB" isn't too long or too emaressing to put at the end of your name so you have no excuse to not put it there.

Yes MG is the only exception. however there are members who arn't wearing their tags anymore and I havn't updated their names on the list because of that.

As opposed to Alex' on most occasions, this is a nice get together clan in which we play each other when possible, either it being on game nights or otherwise. And we mostly do FFA's or a few 1 vs. 1 or 2 vs. 2 on-line matches so far. If we can get enough quorum on a more constant basis, then am all willing to try something else. :)

Yeah, I agree, a ladder would be cool! Not a 'lil tournament every game night, but like a big competition.

@Nasty: I'm planning to have the ladder be based off of one big event. Hopefully. It'll kinda be similar to pgts ladder. But after the big event which is to get everything going you can all do seperate games later and count them to your score as long as you put up the replay so I can see it and validate it. This ladder is a clan activity as is a clan night. And this is the Warboards starcraft clan. Thus the reason that it is here, on this site. Now if you don't want to join that's fine. Well, you're going to be in the ladder whether you like it or not. You don't need to particapate in it but your name will be in there. Just so you know. Playing ladder is optional but if you're in the clan you're in the ladder.

Okay, I'm shooting for July 9th for our first big WBs clan night. So see if you can have that date open. I'm expecting a good turnout so be there. :P As of yet I'm still not sure if I'm going to make that the starting point of the ladder. If I do I'll post an anouncement on it on here so be watching for that as well. If enough people are open on the 9th then I'll set that in stone as the date. Time will probably be around 7-8:00pm cnt which is, as you should know, -6 gmt so set your alarms acordingly. That time is subject to change though so instead of hosting a night it may end up being a day for some of you (at least those who are in the -5 tp -8 gmt range.) Anyways that's the date I'm shooting for so clear your calender acordingly.

Count me in the ladder too. I know I haven't posted here in ages, but I decided to join the clan in hopes of starting to participate in some friendly games.

A little bit about myself:
I play Protoss mainly, sometimes Zerg, rarely Terran.
My highest ever APM was in an experimental fight against Ahzz's enhanced AI, topping 166 APM, with 16% redundancy, for an Effective APM of 140. For those of you who are wondering, I use a program called bwRepInfo which has a cool feature of giving the EAPM based on checks for redundant moves. My APM usually ranges from 120-150, higher or lower depending on if I have good concentration or am distracted.

Lately I've been trying to play at the highest speeds I can, trying to practice with rapid expansions and consistant macro and spending. Scouting is also an issue I'm trying to work on. I've watched several professional games, and I've picked up a few things from watching the Into the MSL first person VODs (the videos of them actually playing the game from their perspective, not just a replay or somebody observing).

I rarely play online multiplayer, so my experience is somewhat lacking. Because of this, I will need work on refining build orders, tech/upgrade speeds, and expansion times. I consider my macro/micro to be decent, although both could definitely use some improvement. If I macro too much, my micro suffers, and vice versa.

I'm willing to play against anyone or help people get up to speed. I check the channel periodically, and if I'm idle there, I'm usually alt-tabbed out of the game. If anybody wants to try and set up some game times, just PM me. For those of you who use AIM, you can contact me from the SN in my profile.

I'd also like to point out that perhaps the Channel might be more useful if all members make an effort to log in at the very beginning of each hour (1:00, 2:00, etc), and wait in the channel for a few minutes before logging off or going idle. Then it might be easier check up on those who are immediately available for a game. Just a thought...

The next couple weeks may leave my schedule a bit random, but if I'm free on the 9th, I'll definitely come. I get home usually after 4-5pm EST, and my nights are generally free.

I don't think you understand what Warboards is. It's already a community, you don't need a clan to make it one. I have nothing against your clan, but when you use these boards to make plans, and then exclude people because they didn't join your clan, you're basically exploiting warboards for your own personal benefit. The reason I didn't join is simple: I'm already in a clan and I have more respect for them (and you) than to double-clan.

Now, if I were making a ladder league, I would want everyone possible to join, becuase the more people involved, the more successful it will be-- I would ask everyone I knew, including ally clans, people from warboards and such. If you want it to fail then go ahead with your clan elitism and exclude everyone else because they didn't "abide by your rules" and join your clan.

I'm not your enemy. I'm not trying to control things. And I'm not trying to weasel my way in. I'm just telling you how it is. If you want to exclude members of warboards just because they didn't join your little clan then you need to be organizing things somewhere else since you're obviously not doing this for the Warboards Community, but only doing it for your little clique inside this community.

Well I was thinking of doing a ladder in general but then I realized that owuldn't really be feasible. That being due to the fact that doing a general WB ladder would be extremely difficult to manage. Look at it this way. You've got 30,000+ members on WBs. I'd say a good 7,500 of those are in it just for the SC area. However most of those are only one timers or have faded. So that leaves around 30-50 people who still visit regularly. No 30 people is a lot but managable yes. But, you also have to consider having their names compiled into a db and then you have to take into acount their B.net nicks changeing. Plus you have to be able to update it so much for every game played. Not to mention if new people come along and want to play but then drop out because they've lost interest in Warboards. Also you'll need to be able to identify, in some way, the people who are in the ladder as a player so you're not playing someone who's not playing in the ladder and then find out that the person they played wasn't in the ladder. (And no people don't really look at lists all that often.) There are probably more factors as well that would go into doing that too. So you see it's a good idea but when you think it out it's just not feasible.

This is an Official WBs SC Clan Anouncment

The first WBs SC Clan night will be on Saturday July 8th at 3:00pm cst (cst = gmt -6) This will also be the start of the ladder. Ladder rules and workings shall be posted below for the time being and will move to the first page soon. I know that this time frame will be late at night for some of you however if you can make it great. If not then sorry. Still, I want as many clan members as possible to show up for this event.

The WBs SC Clan Ladder

This is how the ladder is going to work. It'll be pretty much an exact replica of the pgt ladder so if you play pgt then you'll know how it works. If not then read on.

Each player will start with 1000 points. As players play ladder games their score will increase/decrease based on who wins and what the rank of the other player was. This is charted out as follows. There will be a top 25 ranking for now (unless we get 50+ members)

Each rank consists of five slots (aka 25-21 is one rank which would be rank 5) Depending on what ranks you are and what rank your opponent is you'll get points on this system:

These players can play and try to get into the bottom rank by gaining more points than the person sitting at 25. (right now there should only be 2 players in the pit at all times)

To move up ranks players must acumulate more points than the person above them. (eg: If player A has 1500 points and player B has 1450 and player B wins a games that gives him 100 points he'll move into player A's spot and push player A back into player B's origanal spot.) In order for a game to be counted as a ladder game it must be played on a meele map (non money/fastest and no UMS type meele) and the replay must be saved and given to either me or a clan master. It is ill advised to have anyone obsing a game but that's up to you. No replays before the date the ladder starts will be counted (in other words you can't play a game today and have it count as ladder when it starts on July 8th) In order to keep things a little more fare the ladder will be reset every once in a while (I'll specify times later). Everyone starts in the "pit" and ladder ranks will be given the first day. You are not required to play in the ladder but your name will be in there. (if you don't then you'll probably sink into the "pit"). Other than that there's nothing much left to say for rules except that all clan rules are enforced in the ladder too. (that means no hacking).

There, hopefully, shouldn't be any players that will be stuck in the pit at all times. The will only happen if there are any players who won't particapate in the ladder. (Ex: if I didn't play in the ladder at all I'd get put in the "pit")

Celerons are cheap, but they can't run games - lack of L2 cache, you see. I would have thought that it wouldn't matter for something so old as SC - looks like I was wrong.

Yea I you wouldn't think it would but suppirsingly it does. Celerons = Bad for gaming. To be honest I've got a 300Mhz pentium 2 in my laptop and it runs better than the celeron in my parents computer that runs and 1.5Ghz.

Ok listen up! To make sure no stuff like "I thought it was just a practise game!" will happen, we're making you play specific maps. Someone reports a game with the maps, it count's. Since this one came kind of like a hurry, we're gonna use pgt season 9 maps. We're gonna have our own version probably soon enough, so once these come out, we're not going to accept pgt season 9 maps unless both winner and loser agree to it. You should still use the maps even if that tho

If it didn't come clear already, everyone starts with 1000 points, if you win it goes like u-238's table shows. After the season has started you can play with anyone you want and report the games afterwards. REPLAY IS A MUST FOR THE WIN TO BE ACCEPTED UNLESS BOTH AGREE TO IT.

This works kind of pgt, for example u-238 could be #1 in the ladder just if he has played the most. (Yeah prolly everyone realized that already...)

The first games will be just by random. For example, let's say there arrive 10 people. each say a number from 1-10 that's not taken, and I or u-238 have a list of which number plays which by random. After that you can just do all you wish. (This one might, or might not happen. Not sure yet)

u-238 might not be arriving, so I'll probably take care of the event, atleast the start of it. I'll just say that my comp is still a bit buggy, it crashes sometimes if I'm not in a game, so I might without a reason leave for a moment and come back after 2 minutes or so

The ladder's an ongoing thing. As long as it's on a pgt map, against another clan member, and you save the replay then you can play whenever. Just post the replay in the ladder replay thread.

No. I guess the best way would be to add scores to our member names in page one, and just add in chronic. for example if I'd won 10 and lost 2,

I belive you've forgot one thing, u-238. When do you move up a rank. rank 5 is 1000, rank 4 is??? is it just 2000, 3 is 3000, 2 4000, 1 5000 or something?

Nope that's where it differs from pgt. In order to get to rank 4 you simply have to have more points than the last person in the next rank. Example: I you where ranked 21 with 1199 points and I was ranked 20 with 1200 points (thus meaning you're in rank 5 and I'm in rank 4) if you won a game you'd move up to 20 and you'd be in rank 4. See how that works?
