These are the courses I am looking into, but I am not sure of anything until tomorrow.

Any reccomendations? This may sound stupid... But these are my "goals" once I finish college...

I want to be able to make money. Yes, money. But, I want to be able to work in marketing/stock exchange. I want to be able market myself/others successfully, and be able to do it with charm.

No, I will not be one of those cheesy people you see on the "Infomercials", I would just like to be sucessful.

I do not have a specific job in mind, but something that I am happy doing...

Anyway, without further adui, here are some of the College Courses I am looking at.

GRC 118 • COMPUTER GRAPHICS/PRINT MEDIA (2.0-3.0 credits)
Prerequisite: Basic computer skills or approval of instructor. Students with computer graphics skills should check with the department about challenge exam. GRC 103 recommended. Introduction to computer systems and applications as they relate to graphic communications for print media. Class will present a hands-on overview of QuarkXPress, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. I am somewhat good at this, so meh... A little "real" training won't hurt. :)

GRC 119 • COMPUTER GRAPHICS/DIGITAL MEDIA (2.0-3.0 credits)
Prerequisite: Basic computer skills or approval of instructor. Students with computer graphics skills should check with the department about challenge exam. GRC 103 recommended. Introduction to computer systems and applications as they relate to graphic communications for print media. Class will present a hands-on overview of Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Director and Premier. Now, I am ok with these programs. But, I could use these to help me in furthering my graphic design.

BUS 101 • INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS (3.0 credits)
Survey course designed to give students a broad introduction to the principles, practices and functions of businesses as they are practiced in both the national and global economies. Relevance will be provided through research and Internet projects and assignments. Topics to be covered include management, marketing, finance, investments, and various other areas such as international business, small business, and ethics. All BUS 101 students must take the English assessment test before enrolling. Students must bring their placement test report to the first class meeting. Attendance beyond the first class is subject to instructor approval. This course transfers to UNR as MGRS 101 and is acceptable as a business elective in the 2+2 program. This is kind of a mandatory class. I will enjoy taking this, because I enjoy people, and making money!

MKT 115 • PURCHASING (3.0 credits)
This basic course will introduce the student to purchasing techniques and practices. Specific topics to be covered include purchasing department functions and responsibilities; purchasing tools, forms and procedures; vendor relationships and policies; the position of purchasing in the organization; centralized vs. decentralized purchasing; controls; determining standards of purchasing performance; and the future of purchasing. I am already very good at reading at people, but getting real training is always a plus.

MKT 129 • PRINCIPLES OF SALES (3.0 credits)
The purpose of this course is to give each participant a superior knowledge of persuasive communication techniques in a business setting. Intensive study of body language, personality types, learning/communication styles and neuro-linguistic programming are included. Students will practice reading and interpreting body language. Furthermore, each participant will be trained how to determine and react to different personality types and neuro-linguistic styles. The importance of using diverse communication styles and techniques with different cultures is covered. Students will be required to speak in front of the class and do a sales presentation. Participants will gain a sense of self-confidence and assertiveness. Same as above.

MKT 130 • INTRODUCTION TO MARKETING (3.0 credits)
Intense study of marketing philosophy including: segmenting and developing target markets, pricing, distribution and location analysis, promotion and product development. Upon completion of this course, the student will understand the marketing concept and be able to explain how an organization can develop an effective marketing strategy. All MKT 130 students must take the English assessment test before enrolling. Students must bring their assessment reports to the first class meeting. Attendance beyond the first class is subject to instructor approval. MKT 130 transfers to UNR as MGRS 210 for 3 credits. Another class that will not hurt. :)

MKT 131 • ADVERTISING (3.0 credits)
Presents methods and techniques in modern advertising, giving information to do the entire advertising job. Copywriting, selection of media and how the advertiser can approach his/her problem most effectively are included.
Same as above.

MKT 229 • PUBLIC RELATIONS (3.0 credits)
Techniques of public relations for those holding supervisory or higher positions in management and marketing. Principles of creating and maintaining good public relations, including employee-employer relations. Customer-employee relations receive emphasis. Focuses on the programming of the total public relations effort and selecting of appropriate strategy, media and persuasive devices to accomplish objectives. This will go a long ways regardless of what I do. Knowing how to handle yourself around customers and people is a very important thing...

Well, those are the classes I am looking at.

What I would like to do next year, is take 2 High School Classes, and take 2 College Courses. The High School Courses are Government, and English...

So, what are your suggesitions for what I should take/do?

This is your first year in college? Don't worry about it too much. As long as you have a general idea of what you want to do (and even if you don't), the courses are so basic you won't be missing out on anything.

Well, I am actually going to be a senior in High School.

But, I am given the oppurtunity to take college courses instead of basic electives for high school.

So, it's a way to get ahead in college. :)

Whatever we learned from college or Uni, very often it has nothing to do with the job we ended up with.

Choose anything that you are happy and enjoy to learn, it is the degree acheived that matter, subjects that you taken in the course doesn't affect your future career much.

Uh no thats not necessarily true. You can only get jobs you are qualified for if you learned tons of stuff about physics and stuff you probably won't end up as a meteorologist. It has almost everything to do with how your life ends up. Unless you just screw off and get a stupid job.

It has almost everything to do with how your life ends up. In certain, highly specialized careers, yes. However, in most business-related careers a college degree is enough to get you some kind of pretty decent position with a good amount of upward potential.

Of course, courses that you take might impact your efficacy, thus affecting your upward mobility and future earnings in the company.
