Anyone of you guys play this 'seriously', by that i mean going to tournaments and events.
And ofcourse using some advanced techniques, not just rolling around spamming F-smashs, etc.

Not many people here play competitively. But you might want to check out mlgpro.com. They have the best players of Halo 2 and Smash competing in their tournaments for huge amounts of money. A lot of the new techniques and strategies come up at those forums first.

I don't play seriously, but just to enjoy the time with friends.
When I had it, I played it a lot, but every match felt empty and boring. My issues are that the singleplayer modes are boring after the 3rd time (you'll need to do it 25+ times to get the trophies), the AI is weak (as with most fighting games), but most of all, characters are unbalanced.
That's why you see don't see DK, Bowser or Pichu being used by pros. It's either Shiek, Fox, Falco or Marth.
So I sold it. I picked up Soul Calibur II, a much deeper game and I haven't looked back. Then there's these Naruto games coming out and they are simple to play (3 buttons: melee, range, special), yet combos are everywhere and it looks fantastic.

I was amazing on the N64 version, but the gamecube version I just hated.
Such a Mario/Captain falcon player.

That is one way to play it seriously:)
And SCII is also very unbalanced, just watch Cervantes infinite combo.

I'd like to see this video. Even Cervantes can be beaten. The last great SC2 tournament had a lower seed Ivy player beat the top seed Cervantes. His name was Kageh.
Probably the character that is thought to be the worst would be Yunsung, but even a decent player can do well. SSBM focuses on character movement, which is different from combo games like Street Fighter/Tekken and strategy fighters like SC2 and Virtua Fighter 4.
I'm not a fan of games that reward the upper echelon of players thanks to their fast reaction speeds. I'd rather have a game that rewards the thinker.

If you play on 100%, you'll have like 10-20% hp left when you finally manage to stand up.
I believe Berry is the best Cervantes player, i might be wrong
EDIT: Sorry, i didn't find the video. Anyhow, it's a bit old so it might be able to tech out of it.:) Gamefaqs changed their forum so all the old topics where gone
What? Bragging rights aren't serious?

Is it really fun playing Halo 2 where you dominate your other 3 friends for a couple hours? Or would it be better if you had a challenge and your friends played just as well as you do?
In reflex based games like most fighters, shooters or racers, the latter is hard to do (though online can help).
