Okay, this is my first time at GMing a game. Please tell me if there are any mistakes that I have made. The map will start when there is enough people to play. 1 more spot open!

This is my first time GMing, so here's to no mistakes and quick learning!

Orders must be submitted every two days. I will most likely not give you any slack, unless you submit them very soon after, give me a reasonable excuse, or tell me that you will not be able to have them in before hand.

I will join, if I can have a little help as this is my first time ever playing. I read the tutorial but they didn't really say how to make the orders so if I could have help on that, that would be great.

Yeah I went to that one. It said that but I wasn't sure if that was the right way for internet games. But I think I see a problem. Don't you have 2 armies? So how do you distinguish them when you write the orders.

Also I don't see supplies on the map. Are they there and I just don't see them or are you going to include it later.

Actually, armies and fleets are not on the map yet. Those circles are supply centres.

You don't have to distinguish armies, they are just units for you to do whatever you like with.

You identify which unit you are moving as follows:

(Unit Type) (Starting Location) -> (Ending Location)

Let's pretend for a moment that I am Austria.
My orders for the first turn could be like this:
A Vienna -> Galicia
A Budapest -> Rumania
F Trieste -> Alb

One other important thing to know is how to handle the areas with defined coasts, that is, Spain and Saint Petersburg.
Whenever you're going to either location, you're technically supposed to defines which coast you're moving to, though I think we're a bit lazy about that. ;)
But the coasts play an important role in moving units in those two locations.
For instance, you can't move F Mid-Atlantic -> Spain and then Spain -> Western Med. the next turn. If you write coasts in those such orders, it's much easier to remember what you can and can't do. :)

Attacking
You do not have to do anything special when doing an attack move. Just do the same procedure as you would a regular move order. Also if you read the Diplomacy manual on that site, you know that you will need a supporting army to dislodge an enemy army in a province you are trying to enter.

For example, say there is an enemy army in Serbia and you want to enter it. Your units are in the position:

A Budapest
A Rumania

In this situation, would need an entering army and a supporting one and an order could be written like this:

A Budapest -> Serbia
A Rumania Support A Budapest -> Serbia

Or in the simplified version:

A Budapest-Serbia
A Rumania S A Budapest-Serbia

The supporting unit must touch both the army its supporting and the province being attacked.

Convoys
Say on England in the province of London there is an army and in the North Sea there is a fleet.

A London
F North Sea

You now want to convoy that army into Norway. An order could be written like this:

A London -> Norway
F North Sea Convoy A London -> Norway

Any exceptions were noted in that diplomacy manual. The simplified version could be written like this:

A London-Norway
F North Sea C A London-Norway

You may also support the convoy with say another fleet in the Norwegian Sea:

A London-Norway
F North Sea C A London-Norway
A Norwegian Sea S C London-Norway

The same rules apply for supporting also apply. The supporting unit must touch both the convoying fleet and the province where that army is being convoyed into.

General Comments

*You are allowed to assist an ally in attacking, supporting, moving, and convoying so be sure to communicate with him if you need assistance in doing something.

*If you move into a supply center during the Spring Turn, you must stay in that province for one additional turn (the Fall) before acquring it and being allowed to make an additional army/fleet in the following Spring Turn.

If you move into a supply center during the Fall Turn, you are immediately given that supply center and are allowed to make an additional army/fleet at a home supply center (the three or four that you began the game with) in the following Spring Turn.

Something is coming soon after the first game finishes...something you won't want to miss out on...something that will change the way you view Diplomacy forever (ok...so maybe it isn't that big...but it will be interesting). I will provide mentorship to those players who need help. My AIM is in my profile.

Actually... From the pages of the Diplo guide...

A unit may support any attack into a province to which it could move itself. This means that the supporting unit only has to be touching the country being attacked, it does not have to touch the army's country it is supporting. Look at the picture on that page too.

So that means they could be on opposite sides of the same province and not touching each other though one is still supporting the other.

Hehe...Imperial is much later...this is something more...odd than big. And it should be a rather short game, as it is limited by number of turns rather than gaining SCs. Let's just say that you won't have ever played a game like it.

My big thing however, is not big like Imperial. The Imperial game will come after this little pet project of mine...and like I said, this little project of mine is turn limited, so I can set it to a short number of turns and thus make it a short game if support for an Imperial game has grown enough. Besides, a couple of games need to end before we have the open spaces for an Imperial game.

EDIT: Meant to add in that if all goes according to planned, we should have an Imperial game starting around late July or early August.

Instead of Army Portugal Moves To Spain (largest form), you can do A Por - Spa. For the most part it's the first three letters, except where noted.

I have updated the first thing to include a '*'. This basically means that if you do not get your orders in, then this will be used up and you will have an extra day. Once yours is used up, there is no more extra time.

If by chance any Italian unit happens upon any of the territories previously stated, then it is not I who is poking with the stick. And such a statement is not unreasonable, Tun is just as worthy a territory, and much easier to defend on your part. The reason I have stated such an 'unreasonable statement' is that it is for national security, an enemy holding one of said territories is a threat to Turkey's well-being.

Since he's offline right now, by all means make the map, we can see if he wants to join sometime in the next few days. Since he was requesting aid for playing, I think that it would be best to have either BH, myself, or you extend the helping hand. I think to have anyone else in this game do it would potentially invoke a conflict of interests, that is, the advice given to him may not be totally impartial. It would be the absolute best to have you do it, or even have an experienced player from outside this game help him out.

Moves: A major planned event by Austria and Turkey. They team up on Russia to try and take Rumania, and it almost worked, except for one fatal flaw from Austria. Smart moves by Austria, in predicting some of Russia’s moves, but the mistake may turn the tide of battle in Russia’s favour. Most countries expand to gain SC’s, Britain begins to move. Turkey seems to have all of Austria’s support.

WK Diplo Open - Spring 1902

Description: Turkey seems to have some discontent within his country, as his two units fight each other for Ankara. Austria and Turkey advance on Russia. Italy and France move westward, will there be some conflict over Spain and Portugal next round? Smart moves by Turkey dislodge a Russian unit. Russia also lucks out and dislodges a Turkish fleet. Germany does not make any hostile movements, but appears to be setting up for something big. England begins to move and quietly advances eastward.

I did that purposefully to try and hold off Arm, but it seems he didn't go for my home SC's and instead took Black Sea...damn I'm screwed...

And why did Con - Bul fail? And can't F Black Sea retreat to Ank?

I don't think you can retreat to an area where there was a bounce, or movement attempted.

You can't retreat into Ankara, as you bounced yourself out of there. Why didn't you just have one person go there to bounce him? Oh well, I'll go fix the map because that is sort of stupid to have something like that because of one letter.

I will only do this this time because of what happened yesterday, otherwise I would have told everyone who's orders I was missing and would have had a map up at 9:00. So, one more day.

If anyone would like an extension for future orders, pm me or post it before the orders are due and with a good reason accompanying it.

I must congratulate BC and Maegtellum, as they have gotten their orders in relatively quick and on time. BC, Maegtellum, and TGB still have 'a day's grace star'. If everyone else does not get their orders in on time without asking for and extension, orders will not be accepted past the due date, even if the map is up later.

Sorry, but rules have to be set down so that this game will go fast. I don't know about you, but Diplo games that take a week per turn go a bit too slow for me.

YAY! The stars mean you have one day's grace. That means if you miss your orders by one day at any time the game will be delayed one more day just for you. If you don't have the star then if you don't give in your orders the game will go on without waiting. Correct me if I am wrong.

WK Diplomacy: Fall 1902

Description:Russia prevents Turkey from moving any unit. However, Turkey and Austria also prevent Russia from advancing. Russia loses territory to Austria, and is struggling to defend itself from 4 advancing countries. Italy seems to try to take advantage of Austria’s distraction, but Austria defends it’s SC successfully. France expands southward, while leaving it’s flank defended. Britain gets its first build after conquering the un-owned Norway. Italy believes that an attack is imminent and moves his units back, but the attack does not come. Kudos goes to France and Austria for smart expanding while protecting their existing country.

BTW, I am not as strict as I may seems. I believe that it helps to put an 'air' of strictness about. It helps things go faster, easier, and smoother. With the moves not being done right, the reason that I do not let a lot slide is because I believe that you should learn to do things the right way, or suffer the consequences. You can learn from your mistakes this way and will do it right from now on, instead of just forgetting about it.

BTW, does anyone object if, for the map, I just keep all the pieces coloured? This would save a good amount of time for me, especially in the upcoming maps. All of the pieces have borders, so you could tell if your own piece is in your country. Any responses/thoughts?

WK Diplomacy: Spring 1903

Orders Due: Thursday, May 12, at 9:00 pm (-7 GMT)

Description: Somewhat fluky moves by Turkey allow Turkey to gain control of the Black Sea and disband a Russian unit (although I’m sure he’ll tell you it was ‘all part of his master plan’ ;)). Britain learns the tricks of the trade and decides to support himself into Sweden and not Germany. A big collaboration between Austria and Germany amounts to nothing as Italy moves and supports the perfect unit. Austria does not get quite what it wants (although new possibilities open up), and Italy moves deep into Austria’s territory. France begins to invade Italy – could Austria and France team up next season to take out Italy? Russia continues to be pushed back and stopped, as Turkey restricts all his movements and disbanding one of his units. Germany seems to be everyone’s friend this round and only makes one aggressive move. A circle standoff occurs in Livonia, Warsaw, and Prussia. Kudos to Britain for tricking Germany, and to Italy for not losing a unit and predicting Austria’s attack (however, this leave Italy somewhat unprotected if France and Austria team up). Austria seems to have surrounded Italy and Italy seems to be in trouble for next round. We will see how it works out.

Description: Russia, Germany, Austria, and Turkey all fight for Moscow. Germany and France fight for England, France employing a very smart strategy to cut support from Lon so he keeps his army stationed in Wales. Germany moves his an army out of Mun, leaving this as an easy gain for France or Austria in the coming fall. Turkey reshuffles his troops, spreading out to protect all his borders. France and Austria dig deeper into Italy who is on his last leg.

Germany's fleet stays in Nth because he attacked Norway cutting support to the Edi attack, and since he bounced back into the North Sea he also bounced Edi back into Edi. Btw, Maeg, Norway supported Edi's attack on North Sea, it didn't go to StP. Sev, War, and Ukr caused Livonia to bounce.

Well, sub, the orders were do Friday. Now, I rarely ever make a map on the same day the orders are in, I just have too much to do (for now). Then I make the orders due in two days after the map is up. So if I got the map up on Saturday, the orders would be do Monday at 9:00. So you didn't ever have anything to worry about. :)

Then again, I probably would have extended the deadline for you.

Hm, why? I worked most of today, and then later on there was the spamfest with Duddits. Don't worry, I'm making progress on the map. I'm still doing better than most map makers and am almost keeping up with BH. You try GMing a game, it get's harder as homework from the end of the school catches up and as the game goes on.
