Siggy/avy help!

I want to make a siggy/avy for myself, customized and stuff, but I have no programs to make the stuff. What file extension are the avys/siggy (i.e. .doc or .scx or .exe) and where can I get the programs to make them?
@Holocaust, if he's there-what programs do you use and where can I get them? I notice alot of people's sigs had "Made by Holocaust, obviously" or something on them.

You just use paint or some picture editor. Like I did for my avatar. I just used Gimp 2, a free picture edit or like Pgotoshop, but to me better.

You did. I'm gonna try and find a version of GIMP for Windows 98.
Also, I am trying ImageForge. But, I need a good picture of a Terran Wraith or Protoss Scout for an siggy I want. I google some but they are lame. Where did you guys get your pics?

Avatars and signatures are plain old images. You'll probably go with jpg or maybe gif if it's sprite-ish. You clearly mod too much :P

Anyway, I used GIMP and made my new siggy, kinda lame, but better than that Matrix Revolutions crap I had.
ADD: I inserted the image, a .jpg, and it didn't work, just that [X] you see. WTF?

You can't link it from your computer. What you need to do is upload the file at a site like www.photobucket.com or www.kupatrix.com (Kupatrix hosting works only for this site, not for any other.)

Lies, kupatrix works at about 50 or 60 different other urls~! (I feel I should explain this comment -- I run Kupatrix lol >_<)

Yes, once you upload it to the web, you can use it here on Warboards.

If you would like, there are some people around who could probably create a sig/avatar set for you -- There are some really good artists floating 'round.

If not, this is certainly the place to learn how to do better stuff :)

but .jpg files are your standard image file, I usually just use .gif though.
Gimp would assuerdly be your choice program for image editing, because I doubt you'd want to buy photoshop, way to expensive.
Gimp is nearly as powerful as photoshop I think, but just free, and I am surprised that Adobe hasn't shut down teh distribution of gimp.. odd.

Heh, I use Adobe Photoshop 8.0 CS2 and ImageReady 6.0.
You have a few options on obtaining these programs.

- You can buy it, for a hefty price, last time I saw it on sale was 80-90 dollars Canadian.

- Get a friend who has the CD to burn it for you. You'll also need the CD key.

- Limewire/torrent, I won't discuss that any further :P

It's not the URL you linked, I've never used Kupatrix to upload my files (I usually use Yoxio (www.yoxio.com) or my own space (bael.teamkrazy.net) to upload my files) but I'm assuming it gave you the URL after you uploaded it? Maybe try and upload it again and look for a given URL?

It shows you the picture after you've uploaded it -- that is kupatrix -- in the past it used to give you the entire code you could copy and paste to make it show up, but I had to change scripts.

It assumes you know a little bit about the web, so a larger upload place might be better for you.

Well, it's just that I hate logging in... Upload... Wait for like... Urm ok, it's already been uploaded.

To make it short, sometimes slow speed and I prefer straight forward uploading.

I did my siggy in MS Paint. Basic softwares is enough for me ;)
