The first game I actually played was in 2003 - a TvZ between my brother and I. I first got to know of SC when my brother's middle school friend came over and showed us the game.

Watching carpet nuking caught me straight away :)

Oh yes.. My story...
A friend(my best friend) of mine invited me over to his place (that was when I was 3rd grade!in 1998) telling me for this new game StarCraft ofcource we both sucked but now my friend is very good ( I still Suck:( ) From that day on i play SC no matter what games come out ( i play other games to but... )
As far as I remember the first game i played was with zerg at my friends PC in 1998 and it was against a sigle terran... Ahh the good old times.... :worship:

I first played in 1999 when my best friend showed it to me. I instantly fell in love with the Siege Tanks and Nukes. played off/on for about 5 years and have recently got the game for PC (used to have it on N64) and have gotten my first taste of B.net and I love it! I've lately been trying to get really good at it. (Not pro but to the point were I could at least get a ledder ranking)

I first heard of starcraft because my friend Colin had it back when he was in like 3rd grade or something, which I think was about 1998 or so, he really liked lurkers, and would always make one in any lego battles we had when we played with legos. Also, my brother-in-law Jeff (then sister's boyfriend) said he had it on his labtop but I really didn't care to play it. I went to Best Buy one day and I saw starcraft (I think this was in about 2002 or so) and I said "Hey that's the game Dan and Colin had!" so I bought it for $10.00 then later in 2004 bought BW for $15. Dan and Colin, though they live in a different state, still keep in touch with me and they still looooove starcraft, especially zerg. Just like EvilEmpire said, "Ahh the good old times...."

Wow guys, those are pretty interesting...

Anyways, I played SC for the first time I think in '99. I sucked then and guess what? I dont really any more... Im not exactly pro since I just got my rear end handed to me 3 times in a row from some guy who said he was a wcg champion or something. It was also my best friend who got me into SC. I can beat him every game now... Anyways, that's all I've got for now.

I had no real interest of playing StarCraft at first. In 2000, I had two Korean friends that always talked about StarCraft. I asked them what it was and they gave me a copy. I was about 13 years old when I got it. StarCraft was the only game I had and the first CD game I played. Since it was the only game I had, I kept playing it all the time after school. I played against one of my friends, who’s name was yesnoyesno@west (look him up), all the time in 1v1. He gave me some suggestions in how to play better, and then I picked it up and started to enjoy it.

By the end of 2004, I started to download a bunch of mods. I got StarDat and asked random people on the internet how to use it, someone told me to use Arsenal III instead, and I eventually found this place.

(know exact date even time game ended 6:42pm because i saved the replay)
friend from school yelled across the church "scott buy starcraft" and with that kind of peer pressure anyone would play it

This may seem weirdly cliche, but the oldest game I remember playing is..

well, pong.

But my first PC game was Rails, a train game (the precedent to Railroad Tycoon 2)
And my first PS game was Crash Bandicoot 2 (Le Sweetness)

I remember playing the starcraft demo...THE FRIGGIN DEMO!

That was back when they called the Zerg "Xenomorphs" for crying out loud!

I first saw my brothers friend play it way back in the fourth grade on his N64. With the opinion of my friend and my little knowledge of the game we both deemed it "gay". Later on, a more intelligent me visited my other friend who happened to be playing it. I really thought it wouldn't be my kind of game. I was wrong. I was instantly hooked. I stayed up for 24 hours straight playing it at his house. I later bought it and then it consumed my life.

I think he meant your first SC game. My first game was just a few weeks ago. Just checked out the replay again in BWChart and it seems my APM was 22. I never got higher up the tech tree than lings :P

In my first game, back in 98, I was protoss, and, being brand new to RTS, had no idea what I was doing. I thought that reavers and pylons were the most important parts of a base for whatever reason and I was under the impression that pylons improved your resources.
I was so confused.

Of course the first game I played was the tutorial level in the original campaign. On B.net, however, my friend was teaching me all the basics of B.net then he dragged me for a game of Grocery Store Wars V6XE. That was back in early 03 or something.

My first game was in 1999 at a computer camp during our free time. I was playing with relatively experienced players, maybe seven or eight of us. we used LAN and some spawns to set up.

I played as Zerg, allied with another player, zerg, one of my buddies. He was showing me the ropes. Every once in a while he would come down to my base and demand sacrifices in the form of Zerglings. I didn't know shit, so I obliged. I forget everything that happened that day...

The next day, he and I were playing ZvZ, and he managed to parasite one of my Drones. I panicked, and sent it to the middle of nowhere. Sensing this, he offered to kill it for me. He said he would give it an honorable death.

A few minutes later my Drone happened to see an Ultralisk charging for it. They did glorious battle, and only one walked away. He soon thereafter proceeded to demolish my base.

fun, fun, fun.

I hate Zerg

How do you get your APM? A program that anylizes how much stuff you do during the match or something?

Hmm...I think i remember eaven have played the version where tanks could shoot air. It was maybe version 0.98 or 1.00 or smt.
The oldest game ive played is Digger. it was made in like in the 80's.
I bought starcraft a few years back. But i really didnt know what brood war was back then. I was lucky to get a starcraft+broodwar cd free inside.
Oh well....i uninstalled starcraft to downgrade it a little bit and try some game tricks on older versions. But it just wont let me reinstall it!
I fear my days of starcraft gaming are over.
But i will always remain a StarCraft nerdz y0! in my heart.

Mine (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=15020&page=5&highlight=pc+games). :) But I'll always keep a soft spot for SC. I was introduced to it by a friend along with WC2 and another one that didn't really liked. And SC, from the get go, was caught in my eye. A couple of months later, bought mine and later on BW when he too said it was out. ;)

Edit add: And then (couple months later) we settled a cable LAN at his house and played against one another. 1st only with SC and a spawn from his CD and later on with both our BW CD's. :D *Memories flashing*

I remember when i was 8, 1999 i think, i went to a friend's house.

He showed me SC, and we fought a TvT vs comp game. He cheated like hell ( multiple money cheats, map cheat, and operation cwal) and and we finally won.

I think it was back in 1998 when a friend of mine showed it to me. I wasn't all exited about it, played the first stage in the zerg campaign and kinda forgot about it.
Some years later I started playing the game a lot, two (or three?... or four??) years ago I went on bnet and played a lot. After spending an endless amount of time on SC I got bored of it and went on to other stuff.

I'm new here but I think I already fit in according to most of these threads :o

Anyways the oldest game I remember playing is the first Command&Conquer. Man I loved that game. I was instantly hooked when I saw the NOD tanks. I randomly picked it up at a store and my dad (Nice guy that he is) bought it for me. I beat the campaign on the hardest setting 2 1/2 hours later. I still play Command & Conquer: Tiberium Sun. But I wanna play C&C again

Well, this thread is actually about the first game of StarCraft ( I think ) but w/e. I played Tiberian Sun also. I didnt like it very much. I like C&C's Red Alert II: Yuri's Revenge more, but its just me.

WELCOME TO WARBOARDS!!!

EDIT: Nevermind, i read the second page of the thread. You can post ur first game here.

My first game is some strange DOS game that i played when i was 3. Doesnt remember the name or the game play of it ( dude, i was 3!) but i remember in that game i was a guy dodging fires and wizards trying to get shields and cherries... old games... graphics kindda suck...

Yeah Yuris Revenge is sweet. What started me was I had Red Alert, Red Alert Counterstrike, and Red Alert Aftermath (The first red alert series!) I was bored so I went online and searched for RTS games and found Starcraft! Unfourtunately my parents refused to buy it but eventually my dad borrowed it from a friend and I got to keep it for like 2 years(does that count as stealing?) And yeah:D
