Is there a way to download the Starcraft Theme soundtrack?

Like the Terran Theme and the protoss theme sound?

Fiddle with WinMPQ into your game *.mpq files and you'll get sounds that are the ones used by the game to make the themes. ;)

They're in install.exe - music/terran1.wav is what it should look like.

I was doubting if they weren't in the CD instead... but if you said it, then they are. :)

No, I dont think she is, I used to luagh about that same thought too. If your really lazy to do that, there are some in ScIndex; http://forums.scindex.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=31. There will be songs named Zerg (In Game) #1, Protoss (In Game) #3, etc... you can dl them if you want.

Go download UED77s listfile.

And then make your WinMPQ use it as a reference file, EvilEmpire. :P

And if you don't know where it is you could always try SC.org (http://www.starcraft.org/downloads/CustomsDownloads/Intermediate/UED77's%20StarCraft%20MPQ%20Listfile)

If you bothered to look around, which it seems that you didn't :P, you'd already had seen the SC Resources Guide thread (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=9407) that has links for both WinMPQ and it's reference list. ;)

Man, I absolutely LOVE the music from Starcraft -:) Although I'm not too fond of the Zerg theme music, but the main theme (Broodwar versions) of the Terran and Prottos music is excellent stuff... love the more powerful classical symphonic tunes -:)

One of the first things that I did after buying Starcraft ages ago (and then, with Broodwar) was to extract all of the WAVs from the CDs' Install.exe files, and then burn them to a standard Redbook (stereo/music) audio CD -:)

Heh, on this same audio CD, I also added "The Twelve Days of Starcraft" tune and the music that is played in the intro movie for Broodwar (I think I originally downloaded the MP3s from Blizzard's FTP, don't remember 'tho), as well as the installer tunes.

BTW (also related), help support me in my Starcraft new feature quest/request here -> http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=suggestions&t=171777  -:)

as i said before, GAP doesnt just grab music off SC, but Red Alert 1&2, Dark Reign, all those old school games, and more! You can also search for music in any directory, CD, DVD, anything for hidden music/sounds!

BTW, today I stumbled upon an archived version of Blizzard's FTP site, the ZIPs containing the above-mentioned tunes (as well as "Radio Free Zerg", and three samples from the SC soundtrack CD) *used* to be located in the ftp://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/starcraft/Sounds directory on their FTP. Seems that they removed the files from their FTP server, wonder why they would have done that?

The files were:

ftp.blizzard.com/starcraft/sounds/12daysxmas.zip
ftp.blizzard.com/starcraft/sounds/bwintro.zip
ftp.blizzard.com/starcraft/sounds/RadioFreeZerg.zip
ftp.blizzard.com/starcraft/sounds/SCSample01.zip
ftp.blizzard.com/starcraft/sounds/SCSample02.zip
ftp.blizzard.com/starcraft/sounds/SCSample03.zip

Strange that they removed them...

probably lots of people were downloading them and costing them bandwidth, and they don't care about starcraft customers anymore

Probibly the best way to get the SC themes is to use a file sharing program. I have all 12* of them myself (including Radio Free Zerg), and they are all in MP3 format too.

They are as follows...
- Main Theme
- Terran1
- Terran2
- Terran3
- Protoss1
- Protoss2
- Protoss3
- Zerg1
- Zerg2
- Zerg3
- Radio Free Zerg (hidden Zerg song)
*- 12 Days of Christmas (not included with the game - extra track from Blizzards Christmas map "12 Days of Starcraft")

I could possibly upload 1 of them for you if it is under the upload file size. The SC Main Theme is only 2.16 MB.

Again, innuendo crap. If they didn't care for SC anymore wouldn't it be extremelly plausible they stopped releasing game patches a long time ago? :P
Furthermore most of those sounds can be found inside your SC-BW CD's or *.mpq files with the right apps (like WinMPQ) n' then to convert those *wav's into *.mp3's, so why on Earth would they keep the files there knowing that they're somewhat easily accessible? And the one for X-mas, just convert it also after dl'ing the respective map. :)

I must agree as well. After all, they still have all of the old Warcraft 2 stuff there (wallpaper images, as well as the old "KPud" map pack), as well as all of the older Starcraft stuff (all of the wallpaper images and other goodies).

As far as the "12 Days of Starcraft" tune, the one embeded in the map is a lower quality version than the zipped MP3 (44.1k, 16-bit, stereo) that they had on the FTP a while back. Also, a few of the tunes could only be downloaded from their FTP (they weren't included in any maps), such as the Brood War intro music (a *phenominal* piece <IMHO>, I might add) as well as the SC audio CD samples (samples of the songs that were on the SC audio CD, that were not in the game).

Anyhow, other than Radio Free Zerg, the only place to retrieve some o the songs (as well as a higher quality version, in the case of the Xmas tune) was directly from their FTP.
