Caution: I'm pretty sick today, so if this post breaks any "already-made topic" or "topic location" rules, please don't burn me alive.

This thread is where anyone can post their strats for the single player missions of War2 and the expansion.

My favourite battle tactics include:

Insanity: In some missions, you must take out an enemy base right from the get-go just so you can set up. In nearly every mission like this, I crippled the first base (took out troops, Peons, Hall, and Barracks), then proceeded to another base. Take Human x 4 as an example. You start out with a bunch of troops, including a Ballista or two, and you must head south to destroy the White base and set up your own. Instead of doing that, I crippled their base, then headed northwest to Red's base and managed to completely destroy it (barely). The mission was smooth sailing from then on out, as I only had constant streams of Black Dragons to worry about. I then went into Siege mode and defeated Black.

Siege: This is when you take advantage of the primitive AI in the game. Once their Gold Mine collapses (this rarely works on Island missions), you build 3-4 Guard Towers around the Gold Mine that the computer will send its Peons to, usually with no protection. Then, you go away and make dinner while you wait for them to stop sending Peons (they will occasionally send troops at you, but they'll rarely train new ones). One they stop sending Peons, they're out of Gold. Then you can kill them in the funniest ways imaginable.

Point, Counter-Point: Most AI scripts in War2 are extremely primitive. They'll only have one, or possibly 2 attack patterns. Like in Orc 13, where Dalaran keeps using Blizzard on your Towers and sending in 1-3 Gryphons. Once you've learned the computer's strategy, build your units and base accordingly to counter it. In most missions, once you're set up, you can either build an army and crush an enemy base or use the Siege tactics until they're neutralized. Some levels like Orc x 6 have a computer that's vulnerable to attack, but constantly sends units at you. One way to remedy this (they're surrounded by a thin mountain and have next to no defense) is to send in a bunch of Death Knights and D&D their base to scrap. Any units they send in retaliation that aren't hit by D&D can be taken down by fully upgraded Berserkers (in this mission, there is no excuse not to upgrade your Trolls because you get heavy doses of Gryphon) or Death Coil. Catapults are fun in this too, but Death Knights are much more effective when you have 6-9 of them with full Magic Points and all their spells.

Well, that's all from me.

Well, this is the Warcraft Town Hall. There's nothing wrong with posting information on Warcraft 2, but who's gonna read about it? Not me, and certainly not when it's about the campaigns.

For your general knowledge there, DLD, while I can appreciate the effort you put into your post, I think your topic is a bit outdated. I dunno if you play the multiplayer modes, but I like to read about the old school warcraft 2 tactics from back in the day. Sometimes, those strategies can apply to War 3.

In particular, I like the Orc Cheese suicide Barracks. Build a Grunt and rush your opponent. If you lose your Grunt, you lose the game, but if you're against Human, you can run your Grunt over and kill the building peasant and win. Heh. Yeah, the good ole days.

Yeah, I know it's outdated...but I felt like doing that.

As for multiplayer in WC2...there are millions of strat pages for it.

Oh well... I guess that was just the "old schooler" in me.

Aside from the fundimentals, those 3 will usually allow you to beat the level.

Against computers, defense is your best friend. Building 20-30 Peons doesn't hurt either. Knowing when and where to expand is essential. When the time comes to destroy the enemy, it's best to do so in one swift stroke rather than a long, slow, costly battle (though some missions leave you with no choice but to do this, like Orc x 4).

Those are pretty much all the single player strats I can think of...all you can do is master them.
