A recent poll in the U.S. military in Iraq stated most soldiers believe the reason we are fighting there is because of Saddams role in 9/11. Similarily, although the number has been dropping, many Americans believe we are in Iraq because of Saddams support for Al Qaeda.
My question is why do you think most Americans believe in conspiracy theories between Saddam Hussein, 9/11, and Al Qaeda? It appears that some Americans are more easily susceptible to propaganda and ignorance than others. They apparently take anything the Bush administraitons as fact at face value, and accordingly dismiss any kind of evidence which contradicts those claims.
There is more evidence supporting "the government knew about 9/11" conspiracy than there is for the Saddam/Al Qaeda conspiracy theory.
What it comes down to is that Saddam and AQ are 'evil' in most american's view. Therefore, it doesn't really matter. What it comes down to is that people will believe anything as long it goes along with what makes sense.
It just makes sense (to most) that Saddam would have ties to AQ.
But hell, we had ties to Osama and Saddam!
The problem also reolves around the fact that most americans just don't care. Many are off in their own little bubble and don't even know who their respresentitive is, much less anything else related to the government.
People believe what they are told -- its only recently that groups have been stepping up and saying "Wait a minute..."
I think its something like that 1950s aspect -- back then the Government always had the answers, no one questioned them, etc... But their model is out dated and doesn't work anymore, you can no longer lie to people who have access to as much information as we do now.

I have heard of no such poll. Care to link me to a news article or something that talks about it?

Al-Qaeda was strongly opposed to the secular regime of Saddam Hussein and bin Laden had offered use of his fighters' services to the Saudi throne, but the deployment of 'infidel' forces to Islamic sacred territory was seen as an act of treachery by bin Laden. He placed the grouping in militant opposition to the United States and its allies. Al-Qaeda came to claim the U.S. military presence in several Islamic countries (particularly Saudi Arabia), the U.S. support for Israel in the Arab-Israeli conflict, and more recently the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq as reasons for militant action. Bin Laden referred to Saddam Hussein (and the Baathists) as evil, a demon or devil worshipper in his speeches and recorded/written announcements, calling for his overthrow by the people of Iraq. In spite of the distrust Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein had for each other, published reports documented a number of alleged contacts between their organizations. Official investigations by the NSA, CIA, DIA, FBI, the State Department, the 9/11 Commission, and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence -- have led most analysts to conclude that there is no evidence of a cooperative relationship between them.
The 9/11 Commission concluded that there was no evidence of a "collaborative relationship" between Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda at the time of the September 11, 2001 attacks. [9] [10] This was also the conclusion of various U.S. government agencies that investigated the issue, including the CIA, DIA, FBI, and NSA. The Senate Report of Pre-war Intelligence on Iraq also reviewed the intelligence community's conclusions and found that they were justifiable.

doubtful they have collaborated but possible of course
I don't know where Chaos got his information of the driver, because it seems all or most of the groups in the position to get a hold of classified information and information in general disagree with him. I'm not saying there may be some that don't, though. I don't know that much about it, of course.
If there was something concise and supposedly accurate showing that the driver worked for Saddam, then a collaboration would be known.
the problem is mr.bush family hate Iraq so much, is just a matter of time the bush generation will step in to knock it down.
Is no way that the government is going to admi they wrong doing, they will simply try to cover it up.

Osama hated Saddam and wanted removed from power.
So incidentally, Osama has enjoyed the response to 9/11 since it has consisted primarily of invading a country that had nothing to do with the attack and removing a secular dictator he didn't even like.

I dont always agree with you but I do agree with you now. Bush fabricated the "Sudom/Al-Qada conspiracy"
For what I dont know, maybe Bush's daddy George senor asked George W. to finish what he couldnt, take down Sadom.
