ZeroDarkStar and I were talking on MSN a few minutes ago, and decided we will start a project right now. Currently, he is in his own projects, but he will be doing my terrain work. After he is finished, I will begin locations, triggers, and story plot. So far, we have this:

"(Insert the 3 character names here) were all young men (Or women if neeeded) in the village. People were happy, and lived peacefully. Soon enough, though, bad things occoured. Rockslides, storms, and the like. Noone knew what was going on, but (the Characters) insisted to find out what was going on. The village believed in these youth, so they gave them weaponry and armor. One was good with bow and arrows. One was very cunning and stealty, and the other was a master of swords. The three journeyed out to find the evil that plagues the village."

And so begins Izarahul RPG. This is, of course, very generic. A lot of it is still under planning, but seeing as how ZDS and I are ready to delve into this, we are beginning this now. I would ask for either DD or BST to oversee this a little bit, to comment, and to check work progress. I know this isn't BS, but I want order in this thread. I ask that if you aren't in this project, or have nothing to say pertaining to it, to please not post. If anything should happen to ZDS or myself in this project, I ask that BST and DD take this up. Until one of us has to do that, though, we just ask for little bits of help here and there. If needed, we will ask for others to help out. We are only having this thread here for ideas and such. So far, this is what we have, in terms of complete:

Writer//Trigger: Geno
Terrain//Trigger: ZeroDarkStar
Checking over map periodically: BSTRhino, Doom_Dragoon
Terrain: Badlands
Size: 128 by 128 (This is small, because we wanted to start a small project. My trigger ideas, however, will be very detailed.)
Editor currently: SC X-tra

Let's hope this project will get off the ground well, and prove that small projects are good too. Remember, this isn't a giant RPG, but just a small start. Remember, learn to crawl before you walk, learn to walk before you run, learn to run before you fly, learn to fly before you die. ;)

Okay, I'm acutally going to use 128x128 terrain.

96x96 is just too small for an RPG.

I couldn't help read that and think about how similar it sounds to the stroy from FINAL FANTASY I. The wind died, the sea raged.... I'm not putting it down though, heck, my current campaign sounds like an RPG from squaresoft or something, it's just hard to be original anymore.

At least DarkTerror is an excellent source of motivation.

Good work Geno and ZeroDarkStar, I hope the project is not THAT big. Because after Mech RPG I will be sick of RPGs for a while.

It's incredibly small. For any full-scale RPG, I'd be using 256x256 terrain.

Well guys, I don't want you to set an unreasonable goal. I would be more comfortable if you were making another tower D map or something... are you absolutely certain this is something you'll be enthusiastic about doing until the end?

BST... Have faith, Alright? This, for me at least, proves that I can trigger stuff, and do good story plot. Also, it shows how a team of two can finish an entire map. Lastly, it gets another project under our belt ;)

Oh, and don't worry, I have a lot of ideas for spells. It's going to have 3 players, 3 computer allies (One for each player, so I can have more detailedness to it... Trust, me, this way if there is a computer controlled spell, it adds to your exp! ^.^),1 'town' or neutral computer (For towns, of course), and lastly, one enemy (Else there wouldn't be a game ;)). I am truthfully thinking about ditching the 3 computer idea for your own party. I mean, it could help if everyone had the same like 5 spells or something, but with different spells, different units are used, which means... Hmmm... Let me think of pros and cons to it.

But really, I only want this to be a 3 person RPG. That will keep it small, and a lot less work. The classes will be pre determined, as in, join the game, and move to the designated slot. That saves on in game locations for choosing, and saves a few seconds there.

ZDS thought up a good idea too... Easy mode will have shared vision. Hard mode will perm remove it to allies. I also thought of another thing... Easy mode would allow you to have more minerals gained and such. Hard mode wouldn't. This would be done through switches. Switch 1 is set, have easy mode run. Cleared, then it's hard mode. Simple, no?

Anyways, that's just a few things I thought up, and wanted to bring up. The show was excellent, and I loved it. Anyways, I'm off to bed. I have school tomorrow, so I will talk to you later. I will keep you updated on progress.

Speaking of that, ZDS said terrain is coming well ^.^

Great, making the map will be easy, I like how you've made it simple. In fact, I couldn't imagine a story like this with more than 3 players. It's a good idea to have the three difficult levels, although, that will only have a point if you expect the players to replay the map.

it's the storyline that I was afraid of. It's an excellent outline, I really want to know what's going on with this mystery. But after having done a lot of work on the Mech RPG, I know it's difficult to get a storyline that not only will be read and understood , but gives the player something to do as well.

But, I will have faith in your project, and I'll make sure I'll be around to offer suggestions.

Great. I have a lot of the story done so far in my head, I will start writing it down, and see what needs to be cut out and such. I will keep you posted. I also have a few ideas for spells. It looks promicing, if I have the technology to do it ;)

Update - Terrain was up as of yesterday night, but I didn't have time to post about it.

Some things to remember:

"Start" - where the heros spawn.

"Keep users on path" - Keep the users on the mud path.

"Town starts here" - Where town 1 is.

"Demonic Fields" - This is tricky. I want this area to be on fire. I want to put invisible, on fire bunkers here, so it looks like the entire field is engulfed in flames. I'm also going to put sprites from the ashworld tileset for a more "evil" look.

"Town here (outpost)" - where town 2 spawns.

Shweet. I don't have time to download it right now (That, and I forgot my server stuff x.x I need to get that back... I didn't really ever get into that, since I was ideas mostly, but since it's there, and I need access... *Calls for Neo*... Anyways, ideas ideas ideas! I like so far! I shall get on this later... The doodad idea sounds great, and the fire bunkers, even better! what could be interesting, we could load them with firebats or something... AnOTHER idea I want to try, have a cave, bunker on top of it, except that you can load bats into it somehow, then move the bunker, and then you can see fire coming from the cave, but you can't see the bats! How does that sound for an idea? Nya ha! I am on a roll tonight.. Except for the fact that I'm extremely tired... Oh well...

Anyways, I'm out. I just enjoyed the past two hours by playing Super Metroid and beating it in 1:56 (I can take a pic of it if you want, but I have to beat it again ;)), 'cause my dad wanted to see me 'Play another cool game with story to it!' which includes Metroid, Zelda, Lost Kingdoms (Gamecube), And the like. Oh well.

So you can't type ç and ű in the same text (unless you use unicode, but such alternative does not exist in SC).

You can completely mix doodad sprites from another tileset. Don't beleive me? Open up StarForge, make a badlands map, go up to the layer select and select "Sprite Layer". You can place any doodad from any tileset onto any tileset.

Wewt, I feel important. I think we should be right on target with getting this done by THE LATEST, the end of March. I have a few good ideas right off for spells. Some of which, are going to be so shweet to use... I mean, some are complicated, but not. You understand what I mean? :p I didn't think so.

Right now, things are getting busy, so I might not be on as often. Once this musical is over (March 12 and 13 are the shows), I will clear up quite a bit. Um... This isn't BS... Remember that. This is ZDS and I's first project over here. I think the only maps that would count to that would be maps from over at BS and ones that we started there, like Mech and such. Other things shouldn't count. That is, unless we want to make it BS + WB vs. Omega... o.O

No worries. Take your time on it. We want a good easy project with only a few extras to it. This won't be one of my typical maps (That I haven't released) with a billion secrets. This will be straightforward and simple. Now, question, what kind of exp system should we use?

Shared --
Advantages: All characters level together, making it easier, and even if you stink, you get help!
Disadvantages: You can sit the entire game, doing nothing, and then get super powerful, beating the game on your own once everyone leaves.

Single --
Advantages: You get what you kill. No sharing, which means you get a feeling of 'I did that' when leveling.
Disadvantages: You don't share exp, which means you can steal kills. Not good all the time...

And then, which kind should it be?

Custom count --
Advantages: You can set 1. how much each unit is worth, 2. how each unit kill affects your exp (As in, you kill 50 lings, if you kill another, it might not add exp), and 3. It's simple (for me anyways o.O)
Disadvantages: You can kill an ultra, and a ling, and get the (possibly) same amount of exp if it only goes up by one...

Kills --
Advantages: Each unit has a worth, and let's say you kill an ultra. You get a lot more exp than if you kill a ling. Makes you want to kill harder enemies.
Disadvantages: If you have a bunch of ultras near the beginning of the game as a weak unit, then later, have marines as harder units, the exp system will be thrown out of whack.

Just something to think about. ZDS, what do you say in this? Personally, I think Shared/Custom, but that's me. What do you think? Anyone else willing to give an opinion, please do! I accept any and all, be they nice or mean.

No worries. We had Ash Wed as well. I had to read with one of my good lady friends (She has a BF, but we really good friends... If she broke up with him, money on her going out with me within a few days), which was kind of cool... Anyways, get to it when you can. Maybe a late March release was a bit premature... o.O

Oh. To give you a quick rundown:

-Added about 3/4 of the enemies.

-Mixed up some of the doodads, giving it a cleaner look.

-Placed Bunkers to be cloaked and burned in the Demonic Fields.

-Fixed some patches of dirt which looked odd.

I believe he is Catholic, as am I. He might be just regular Christian, but I thought (Key word there, THOUGHT) Catholics were the only ones to celebrate Ash Wed., but I guess ZDS could be a non-denominational Christian, as my friend, Sarah, has church regularly on Wed... Oh well. Anyways, this is the last week... Once this musical is done, it's time to crack down, and kick ass on this map... ;)

Oh, well, whenever you get it fully done, post so. I will begin triggers and light testing on Sunday (I check every trigger to make sure it works before going on, to make sure I don't mess up... Perfection sucks... x.x). Anyways, keep up the work ZDS. I wouldn't mind seeing it on B.net at some point. Let me play a version of it, and I can check it out. Of course, that's whenever I have a chance to play... More than the like 5 minutes a day I have now... o.O

Give me until about 3:00 today. I have to leave for work then. I'll get a little done by then. I've been caught up in writing this 15 page paper which is due Tues, and work. Both of which are tearing my time apart. I promice I will gets something done today, even if it's just score.
