View Full Version : Backup SC Discs
I'm trying to create a copy of my SC disc so that in case of my other disc going bad I'll have a backup. However when I go to copy it it says that the disc is copyrighted and will not copy. This is in Nero. I've also tried it with Roxio and it doesn't even read the disc. How do all of you make your backup copies?

Wtf?!? That really shouldn't have happened. I did both mine (BW too) with Nero Express, but it was a long time ago and perhaps Nero has 'evolved' into a copyright respectful app. I don't use the latest version of the app on purpose, 'cause everytime a newer version gets out it gets heavier on the HD even though am bale to update it. :P
Although I don't use any of'em and also don't run the original on my CD drive when I want to play SC-BW. How? It's called Daemons Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php) and it allows ya to use the CD's images from most (CD) recording programs around by simply emulating a new vitual CD drive onto your machine. The only thing I must do is to keep a cd image file somewhere on the Hard Disk and make Daemon run it. ;)

I know I just got that program. You can run just multi with the 7x Patcher. Anyway I'll try to use an older Nero.

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think it's legal to make backup copies of your discs even for personal use.

Well, I know if you know about SNES/NES/arcade games/etc emulators and roms, then you know that it IS legal to have roms and emulators if you have the actual games and systems (which you know, everyone has ;) ). I'm thinking that it is probably the same with other games and movies (I believe it is the same with DVDs).
Personally, I liked it better with old VHS tapes because you could record and copy anything you wanted to because nothing was digital back then (technically you still can, but no one uses VHS or their VCRs much anymore)
I'm not sure if it's 100% legal. (I'll have to check the EULA) But alot of people here have back ups. And my SC disc is already scratched slightly so I don't want to use it too much longer. Besides I'm 1 in a million SC players so I don't think Blizzard is going to search me out and sue me for makeing a backup disc for my own use.
Oh Btw I got it to copy! When I used the nero it said it was Copyrighted but it went ahead and copied the disc anyway so I'm good to go.
It's is legal if you own a legal copy and only for personal use.
Well I'm under bother of those so I'm okay.

Wow I admire you guys! Youre so carefull about braking tha law I admire that very much!
You should try copying with Alcohol 120%, without using emulation (i screwed a SC copy once with emulation) Or its much easyer with CloneCD - just choose Game CD.

I don't have a physical copy of SC-BW's CD's, but adhered to the emulation because this is my 3rd SC-BW buy. (Loans can do that to ya, particularly if folks don't take good care of what they borrowed.) :P
I also believe that most of the regular members at the SC sections do have (bought) it. ;)
And I use emulation so ain't forced to carry around with me my game CD's each time I take my laptop outta home, which happens at least once a week. :smirk:

i have the real bw cd.. i just use the copy one because just in case the copied one gets scratched. I can still copy another with the real version ;)
Exactly! I have both SC&BW so I should be safe. Heh even my boss at the computer shop said that my real disc was... ...bad. So a backup won't hurt a bit. Sides. It'll save me money in the long run because I won't have to go buy another SC or BW Cd if my real one goes.
