Yea, I think I'm going to leave it open until tuesday at the latest to give PC and some others a chance to join (Oboe has nicely put a link to this in the sticky so the new players can take a look, this is so that they can have a game with a fresh slate to start in, instead of joining one half way through). After tuesday I will allow the 'older' players to join (Matti being the last 'normal' player to join). Therefore if you're one of the older players, by all means post you will join, but you won't officially be in until tuesday night after the new members have had a chance to join.

Btw, note to all players: If you join this game, that tells me that you are willing to follow through with this, unless you have a good reason. "I'm too lazy" doesn't cut it. If all you do is order holds everyturn, you'll be replaced. As for orders, I'll allow a one day grace period in which you can send them (unless of course you are away on vacation or something of the sort, then either you can get someone to do your orders for that time, or something else you come up with), after the one day grace period, I'll post the map without your orders. If you're constantly sending orders in late (let's say 5 times, I think we can all agree on that), then you will be replaced.

Tanain, the orders you send me are basically your commands of your army, it tells me where you're moving your men around the board. It's like I'm the man in charge of detailing to your army where the commander (you) wishes them to go, and you're orders are the instructions for your soldiers / army.

Oops, sorry Oboe. I havn't been in a French class since grade 4, and that was my second year (it was forced upon us). I didn't take it afterwards because... well... I hate speaking french, it's such a backwards language to me (instead of 'I go to the mall', its 'Mall, I go to' in french or something like that. And everything is masculin or feminine. Like words are a guy or a girl.... and you have to know which they are so that you know whether you use le or la or w/e.... grr.... Good thing I didn't have to take it again, otherwise I would have gone insane.)

Spring 1907

Summary

All the powers make moves to ensure some builds in the Fall to fuel their war machines. Spain makes some aggressive moves towards Britian. Italy stretches out to secure two SC’s for the fall, but he leaves his backdoor open which France takes advantage of. Germany expands his influence unnoticed, and a front develops between Germany and France on the Western side, a possible standoff in the Fall for SC’s? Poland wins a standoff against Ukraine over Bie due to a smart support from Kra. Ukraine also has a standoff in CRP with Russia who believes it should be his, it is his country afterall. Russia and Ukraine both venture south towards Turkey who stands still. Maybe a defensive move on Turkeys part? Egypt moves into the surrounding land, taking advantage of Turkey’s isolation and moving into EMe unchallenged.

Summary

Most of the powers expand to gain some builds in the Spring. Russia gets denied any builds in the Spring by Turkey and Germany. BH’s Open – Modern Diplo
“Deadly” Spring 1908

Summary

After days of planning an apparent Italian-German alliance bears it’s ugly head, which is more then France wants to see as they pull a surprise attack, entering France territory and threatening 3 French SC’s and capturing one. All of the French moves are bounced but one lonely fleet coming closer and closer to Britain. Italy’s whole flank moves West except for one fleet going east to gain land. Russia decides it’s time to make use of Ukraine’s absence and launches a mildly successful assault on the sleeping country. Once again Russia and Germany fight over Sweden while a Polish fleet enters Bal, will this single fleet be the decision of which country takes Sweden? Poland better be ready to receive a flurry of letters! Poland also does some odd reshuffling of his forces, while to the south Turkey becomes highly active, launching it’s own assault against Egypt, taking EMe and stretching it’s influence to include Gre and Arm. War already and only in the second year, what will the Fall have to offer, more war? Maybe some betrayal, and a spoonful of SC collection?

"Time is ticking" Fall 1908

Summary

Both sides of Europe erupt into war! It seems France’s time is ticking away as two of it’s SC’s are taken, one of which is his capital of Paris. France’s fleet in the Irish sea remains stationary when it could have contributed to the war effort. Spain’s poor calculations result in Italy moving past his lines capturing one of the Spanish SC’s. Italy also brings more men to the western flank, it seems the German-Italian war machine is unstopable. In the north Germany captures Sweden with Polish help, and Russia makes a move into Lap, maybe strategic? However, Russia’s units are too spread out and he is ripped apart from the inside as Poland and Ukraine capture two of his SC’s, in retailiation Russia captures one of Ukraines. Turkey moves into Egyptian soil, as well as expanding out to the borders of Russia. Ukraine decides to take a pot shot on Italy and with the help of Turkey dislodges a stray Italian fleet, capturing another SC. One of Turkeys fleets also move into a position to threaten Italy’s unprotected Eastern front.

“Impending Defeat” Spring 1999

Summary

France is yet again pounded by the German-Italian alliance. Italy decides to spend it’s resources on a fleet set to match that of the Spaniards, who succesfuly take back occupation of their home SC and occupy one of Italy’s. Turkey finds itself facing down an Italian navy as the other half of the Great Italian navy moves west, it seems he wasn’t to happy about Turkey helping Ukraine into Serbia. Turkey also succesfuly invades more of Egypts land and moves to take all of the Black Sea. Germany and Poland both perform mass reshufflings of their forces, while Russia uses Polands reshuffling time to retreat into his home SC’s, ready for a final stand-off. England becomes active again and it’s Royal Fleet moves out into the surrounding see’s, one fighting with Germany for Norway. Ukraine and Italy fight for Croatia and Ukraine also manages to occupy Sev once more.

“Standing Room Only” Fall 1999

Summary

France is defeated as Germany and Italy finally defeat their nemesis! And Turkey defeats the Egyptians. The Germans, in a move that caught the Spaniards off guard, captures Bor. However Spain did a lot of conquesting, gaining back his Home SC from Italy and capturing Libya. However they failed to keep Tun from the retreating Italian fleet. Speaking of the Italian navy, it seems to be suspiciously moving East. Germany finally gains Norway after a quick skirmish with the British who seem to not notice the free SC of Ireland to the North West of their homeland. A stray English fleet happens upon the border of Portugal, maybe some hostility with Spain to settle? Russia is now taking his last breaths as Poland digs deeper into his homeland, he may have to rely on his old enemy Ukraine for some help. Ukraine moves into the Eastern Black Sea, surprisingly with Turkish consent, an odd move. A large-scale world war seems to be just on the brink as all the powers are running out of room. And after the French defeat, it seems no neutral countries are safe anymore.

Summary

The world held their breath as a large conflict involving Ukraine, Italy and Germany erupted in the middle of Europe. Everything was centered around Ukraines capture of Hungary last Fall. However through some well thought out moves on Ukraines part everyone stayed where they were. At the same time Ukraine’s new reinforcements move south towards Turkey, oblivious to the major struggle to the west. Germany captures the North Sea with a suprising amount of firepower that caught the stationary English fleets of guard. Russia tries to gain back their capital and leaves Murmansk to bring more firepower on the Polish units in Moscow. Italies fleets move around to try and gain a tactical advantage over Turkey and Spain, but fails to do anything of real importance. All countries perform mass reshufflings of their forces.

If they were not allies and there was no permission, then Cygnus would not get command of Italy. However, they are allies and Madman has given his permission to Cygnus. Therefore since Madman has said Cygnus can control his country for this turn (if he is gone for more, I may get a replacement for the mean time), I will allow Cygnus to send in orders for Italy on Madman's behalf.

Btw, orders are due in approx. 1 Hour (EST time, GMT -5). If many nations do not send their orders in, the time will be postponed until later tonight, however the latest is 8 I can set it back to as tommorow I have no time whatsoever to work on the map.

Do you realize that they have been working together the whole game. What he will do now I'm 90% sure would have been done anyway. I can allow this because I know they are allied, the only reason you do not like it is because you realize they are both against you. No hard feelings but it's the truth.

M'kay, just to clear things up, the due date for orders is postponed while the vote goes on. Once all the results are in (i.e. everyone's voted) I will post a new final date for the orders. However if your orders do not depend on Cygnus controlling both Italy and Germany or whatever, then I will accept your orders. It's your call.

Wow... I'm still sort of stunned, I don't really expect things like this to happen. Maybe it's because I'm live in a small town... It's just... wow...

In light of recent events, even if we may regret the loss of Cygnus from the forum, we still have to move on. Germany will have to be replaced by another person, so we better start finding someone else.

We have to face facts, we are losing more Diplomacy players than we are gaining. In all of the games, it will only be the same people over and over. First Shini is gone, and then Cygnus. I do hope we do not lose any more people, as it is always sad when something bad happens to a person and Diplo will suffer.
