New Layout

This is a new layout I am tossing around and fiddling with. I kept trying to think of something to put up top (text wise) but it seems kind of like a waste, since almost every gamer knows what FF7 is. My plans for the black area is to stick random quotes in there from the game (eventually from the movie).

Any thoughts? I am planning to code the site to be stretchable width wise and height-wise. Though I am unsure about the left column (For menu). I am thinking about turning it into a possible block code... Or to leave it all in one column.

Oh well. Oh, and don't mind the low quality. It actually looks quite sexy (uncompressed) if I do say so myself.

I can see a resemblance to FF7 now that you mention it, but I don't just see it on my own. I like the skin, though. I like midnightblue type colors.

Eh, keeping that for the sweet final coded version ;)

Most of the images are from the FF7 Movie (Advent Children).

Only the top corner has an image from the game (game-sephys face fading into his back through the fire).

I've not decided on button designs (if any) or text colors... Leaning towards an off white base text color I think.

EDIT: Plus the url (when finished) will have "ff7" in it, so I figured it wouldn't be to hard to figure out... ya know?

Also when you ask on what to put on top, do you mean in place of/on top of the top banner ?

I have an idea on how to mae the left column stretch. But it was only a theory so I tested it. It didn't work :cry:. But I think with abit of CSS the column will stretch without the Seph BG repeating itself.

Also, I think you shouldn't stretch it with width. A small template looks better.

The layout has been coded, although the look is somewhat different from that older screenshot, heres an updated shot (this is from IE's fullscreem mode pardon its hugeness):

I'll be coding it into a content system soon! This is for FF7 btw. If there are any FF7 fanatics out there, PM me! I want some help with this, I'm not a total FF7 freak by any means (I love FF6 -- which will be my next layout).

Each column (menu and the content area) are stretchy all the way down, the content area is 620px wide, which should be enough for anything, and I believe the design looks fine for 800x600, and still looks fine for 1024x and above.

I like this version, but I feel that the two images in the left collumn and the centre collumn are far too unclear. I think it would look better if they were slightly more crisper. Also, I would think that a lighter colour on the two extreme sides of the head banner would looks better.

I've been tweaking some other stuff (my mysql database is still fucking up here and there though, its very annoying) and I think I have the comments (for news) done (show/hide script even ^_^).

I have to decide how I want to handle pictures to, I am thinking about just doing it manually...

I changed the default text color to an orange, but not sure which one is good =/

If only I can setup that randomness I was talking about ^_~ But the rest of the site is basically coded how I wish (I LOVE the way I did the comments).

I've got the scrpit to FF7 sitting here, all I have to do is start pulling quotes from it ><!

Getting to see this late:

Love what you've done with it Neo.
The left navigation menu looks sleek and cool though you might want to think about bolding the text-heading above the respective submenus to give a more clearer structure to newcomers.

IMO the font on the main page is of the right font size. You could of course have News Headlines in large fonts, and underlined with the details underneath in the current size

Nice touch with the Quotes :)

Yeah there are a bunch of stuff I need to do to finish it up (setup random quotes for one) and tweak the menu a bit.

Alot of it though relies on time, and I've spent a lot more time on the wiki then anything.
