Superset is everyone's friend. Plus a spot helps me to rifle through the routine faster than anyone I know, gogogogogogogo like crazy but we have enough time to rest when the other person is doing their set. Go for negatives too, it goes to around 1 1/8 hours each time I go...and I'm changed when I get there, so I don't have to worry bout changing and have someone who looks like Schwitzer staring at my back *and below* when I put on the shorts and have to take off the sweater to put on the T-shirt.

:p

I try to go the the gym every other day...but recently my schedule's all frigged up. I life, but not that much. And I don't do free weights. I start off with a warm up on the bike, then I go stretch. Next comes the tread mill, which I go on for 10 minutes at a time, at a speed of about 7.0 to 7.3. After the first 10 minutes, I take a break, then go for around 5 minutes at about 8.0 or 8.4 -- then I stretch a little more. Next comes the weights. Nothing major, mostly toning stuff.

Then I stretch for about twenty minutes, and then off to home. =]

My best mile is 7:14, btw. =]

You try holding in a air baloon sized fart in your cheeks and say the same thing, then have some hot chick try to talk to you who's not running but spots you by the entrance....that's torture man!!

How's the best way for a bad runner to become more of a endurance runner? Tips my friend! :)

Start off slow. Don't push things, it will only make them worse. Start out with jogging, nothing too strenuous. Try jogging at about half speed for maybe 15 to 20 minutes. After maybe six or seven weeks of that, up the speed. Repeat. Keep upping the speed every few weeks. Rince. Repeate. GG endurance.

I usually use 7 as the speed, but that might be a little too much for you, especially if you aren't used to running/jogging, or even being on your feet for many hours at a time. :/

dunch: for speed, just see what fits you best. Try jogging around the block a few time at a comfortable speed, and then try to relate that to the tread mill.

Jogging speed for myself is about 4.5 to 5.

Argh!! Running! My mortal enemy!

My run times always suck. I can sprint relatively well but my distance times always suck. It's not very reflective of my endurance, however. For example, I tried out for the Crew team last semester and had the second worst run time out of the group that finished the two weeks. My ERG time (rowing machine) for the 2k was 32 seconds behind my first place, four seconds behind second place and 41 seconds ahead of fourth place! My nineteen minute row also had the fourth best distance! My run time, however, killed my chances of getting on the team.

I lift five days a week primarily focusing on upper body (especially back and shoulders). Thankfully, my gym is right across the parking lot from me (thank you student housing!) so changing there isn't a problem for me either. I generally spend between 20 and 30 minutes on an eliptical, keeping my heart rate above 160 (the machine usually yells at me saying it's too high) then bounce between two lifts, be it two arms or lat pulldowns and pushups (I don't like bench pressing).

Mmm. Big buff Marsy! :D

I'm not a fan of free weights either. But if it's something that goes against your own weight (push ups, dips, pullups), I can go on forever with. I have an all time record of 72 pushups, without stopping once. This was a few years back when I still took karate. My pull ups aren't as fantastic, but I can usually squeek off 9 or 10. Dips, I can max out at just over 30. On good days, 38 to 45.

Of course, me weighing 120 pounds has nothing to do with this...

I could never get that fit despite taking 3 karate classes a week a few years back,

I took three classes a week, too. I wasn't that bad, actually. I was put on this team sort of thing, and we could go around to local malls doing demonstrations and stuff. I still have a few of my trophies...but a lot of them were broken over the years. I'm always going to keep my State Champion plaque, however. 1997...winner of my division. ^_^

I remember one time I was at a tournament, I was actually sparring (something I didn't do much...I was really small for my age, and the other kids in my division had real height/weight advantages on me, so I stuck to katas and forms). As soon as the match started, my opponent , who had atleast six inches on me, started approaching, so I threw out my foot, not really putting anything behind it. Comically, the kid walked right into my foot, smashing his lower lip on my foot. I heard a few people laughing, and I heard my dad cheering. Unfortunately, that sweet ass kick did me no good. I was disqualified, and my opponent advanced.

My weight doesn't really bother me. I'm 5'5" (maybe 5'6" now, probably), and pretty much everyone in my family has the same body type.

Did you ever do Junior Olympics or USA-NKF National tournaments? Those were fun. One year I took a gold in both kata and sparring at a JO tournament. Ironically, that was towards the end of my years in karate. Sparring was always my strong suit because I was built somewhat large for my age, I'd always throw myself off-balance in kata. How I got that gold once was beyond me, everyone else must've been even worse. :p

As seen in those pictures of me in the sexxy red dress, I am skinny as a spaghetti noodle. I think you know my answer, as well as questioned your sexuality.

I made it to one USA-NKF tourney, but I totally chocked while I was doing my pinion (sort of like another name for a kata, or a bunch of moves put together ... couldn't last more than 3 minutes). I had a simple breathing exercise, which I really needed for the upcoming forward tumble/splits - it was toward the end of my 2 minute 47 second pinion. I got through a good majority of the exercise, when I blanked out. I forgot what I was doing. Where I was. I was in a basic horse stance, with the judges to my right. If I could have kept my stance and just thought things over quickly enough, they wouldn't have noticed my slip up, but no. My stupid self had to get up out of the horse stance, and that was exactly when I remembered what to do. I finished as strong as I possibly could.

I think I placed seventh out a field of 13. If I wouldn't have messed up, I _KNOW_ I would be owning more than one division champion plaque.

*sigh*

Wow, 120 lbs was quite a long time ago . . . Hopefully you can love like this for the rest of your life. Two of my brothers have body types like yours (though they're both 6'1", so they weigh a bit more). I, instead, will be forced to spend the rest of my life fighting my weight.

What exactly is Pilates? I've heard of it countless times, and I've seen a few commercials for it, but I always seem to be doing something else, or just zoning out whenever they come on.

Weight-Training to the max. I've gotten so strong this year. I've been working out since the beginning of this year.

Year Start:
Weight: 125
Bench: 150
Squat: 175
Curl: 65

...and thats from doing pushups since freshman year (senior now).

Now:
Weight: 135
Bench: 225
Squat: 225
Curl: 90

I'm trying to get to 250 bench max by the end of this year. The funny thing is yesterday I was maxing out on the bench, but I was doing it super wide grip and I got to 215 pretty easily. Then I tried 225 and was just too tired to pull it off. :( I'd say I'm doing pretty damn good though, saying how little I weigh.

Well, I'm about 5'10. I've been working super hard this year.

Remember your protein folks. Tuna-Fish sandwhiches, Peanut Butter and Jelly, and Red Meat work very well if you wanna go al-natural as I have. No pills for me thank
