Dia Dhuit, mo bos.
Starcraft came out in 1995. In 1998, Brood war became available. That makes a difference of about 3 years, give or take a couple months.
It's now eight years later, and there is no Starcraft II. Starcraft: Ghost, the cookie that Blizzard gave to us to make us hush is now indefinitely postponed. Us nerds have either departed to Warcraft, left the gaming world, or cling half-hopefully to the promise that Blizzard made to someday "return to the Starcraft world".
Something must be done.
Therefore, I'm half-ready to arrange something with Blizzard to write Starcraft II myself. It'd go something like this.
I'd ask for-
1. permission to work on a Starcraft II storyline.
2. Chris Metzen's help in working with the Starcraft characters.
3. All information on Starcraft Ghost's plotline (just so I know what will and what won't affect a possible Starcraft II plot)
4. Permission to share this information with a small number of people who will help me design units.
In return, Blizzard would have-
1. A contract on me insisting on my silence on any and all inside information I might receive from them.
2. Someone working for them that won't require any payment at all for working on the idea.
3. The ability to either accept or reject my plot, unit designs, and other ideas.
In essence, they would get a story that they are in no way required to accept and all it will cost them is information.
What do you think? Do you dare me? :D
