View Full Version : getting WoW?!?!
im currently saving for a new vid card 128mb one (it cost 70 and i have 50), iv also applied for a job at cough* KFC, but anyway ill have more RAM, then ill be purchasing......wait for it........WoW OMFG.......
So it all comes down to this job, i have a good chance for the job because they need 20 peeps.
I dont know y i made this thread, prolly because of all the excitment but before i go buying, is it really worth it, if i dont buy WoW, ill get SW: empire at war, my new fave game other then WoW.
I already have 3 friends that currently play WoW, so im pretty hyped for it lol
I have already chosen a race and class, a gnome mage, my friend suggested this, because i wanted to be a caster and he said that the gnomes have a racial trait that increases intelligence, so yer.
And who else plays gnomes and what are your thoughts on them?
The race you pick doesn't matter nearly as much as the class. But for alliance mages you only have two choices: gnome or human. Go human if you want to detect stealthed units and get faster reputation gain, or go gnome if you want the extra intellect and be slightly harder to spot and target in PvP.
I'm a gnome mage too and they're a lot of fun. The only downside is that if there are a lot of other mages on your server, finding groups could be difficult.
You mentioned RAM... that's really important in WoW. Get at least 1 GB if you can.

See, I prefer trolls and undead, because they're horde, and they don't look "cute." But get whatever you want. Ultimately, the racial abilities and traits aren't important enough to be the deciding factor. If you dislike how gnomes look, be human. Or if you like gnomes (*cough*crazytalk*cough*) pick them. =D Sry, my bias is showing (I'm horde).

I play on Aggamagon and Executus(3days old).
If I were you, I wouldn't get a 70$ v-card. Save up till you get around 150, and get the 6600 gt (AKA budget gamer's card), You will be able to run WOW medium-high.
RAM, I currently only have 512mb, and im barely surviving, so I recommend 512 +.

The 70$ card im getting is a Nvidia 128MB (i forgot the name lol) I will prolly get around 1GB of RAM, that should make it run better.
Although im sitting on DialUp my friend says it wont matter that much if ur on DialUp...

It's recommended you have some form of broadband. Lagforge isn't called Lagforge for no reason...
Never heard of lagforge; But lagrimmar is a killer. As soon as you come in on a windrider, your screen freezes for two minutes. And if you heartstone there, into the inn, which is right near the auoctions house, bank, mail box, and the blizzarding/rain of fireing spot, it gets even worst... T3h five minutes of 0 frames per second and a DoT that reduces your FPS by ~15-20 for like five more minutes.
Dial up = Curse of Elements in your face.
