I have an account for Battle.net and have tried playing on it. I can connect to gateway and all that, and have hosted a few games. BUT My wireless always drops the connection midway. Any thoughts?
If it helps, here are some specs-
-U.S. East Gateway
-IBM ThinkPad 600 with a NetGear WG511 wireless card
-have the 1.13f patch

If you live in Usa West north or south the you should play on west. Though it could rarely be caused (if even possible) , it is most likely something wrong with your wireless card or connection its recieving.

hmm....where's Cpt. Chronic? He set up my account in U.S. East, and I live in IL. Is that West or East? I should be entering whichever gateway I live close to, my comp kinda sucks.

Honestly, it doesn't matter which realm you play on. Usually you just start an account on whichever realm you have the most friends on. You could be in the United States and play on an Asia server with minimal problems.

I'll make an account on West for you tonight with the same info and maybe that will help, but I doubt it. Illinois is further East than it is West so....

wireless wireless wireless, thats a problom. I too have a wireless connection. Meaning you have router. You need to portforward your router so it can access b.net.

http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Starcraft/Starcraftindex.htm
Pick your router model and follow the instructions, it helped me and a couple other people using a router.

Did yours have the same problem before you portforwarded it?
I did everything, still the same. What's going on?

Sort of, but for mine, I couldn't download or host maps until I forwarded it. Do you have a firewall? Did you accidently block StarCraft from accessing the internet? If so, disable your firewall when your playing StarCraft.

Oh no, no firewall.

Don't have Norton Anti-Viruse, MacAfee or Windows Firewall? I'll look into this, what operating system does your computer have? Do you have any other multiplayer games and what about them, they work fine?

Does your connection cut out when you are surfing the net or playing any other online games?

No. I could relocate my laptop to a part of the house closer to my router, though.
I don't really have any other online games except for Yuri's Revenge. I tried playing that online, but no one wanted to play because of the lag. It worked fine, but that was before my comp got BlackWormed and we reformatted the drive
I have Windows98SE, no norton antivirus.

No anti-viruse program? Do you know viruses could make your computer lag like that, like by a lot? Try downloading Lavasoft (http://www.download.com/3405-8022-5153545.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5), it's free, but it only scans for Adware, which is just as bad. Takes like 6 minutes to scan, depending on how much stuff is on your laptop.

Also, try deleating your 'temp' folder, if your running Windows.
C:\Documents and Settings\[Account Name]\Local Settings\Temp

This file has useless stuff it picked up from the internet, which will make your internet run a little better if you deleat this folder. Your computer will make another temp file there automatically again.

And for a virus program use AVG Free (http://affordable-computer-repair.com/downloads/avg71free_375a691.exe) its a great program and you'll barly know you're using it. (Except if it does a sceduled scan during SC then it lags the game a little.)

Thanks guys, but I found out it can't be my comp, it's either my Battle.net Account or something with my ISP or something with the router. I played through my account on another comp, same problem. WTF is going on?

Same computer as in another wireless connection? All the wireless computers in your house uses the same router. If you think it's just your account is messing you up, why don't you just make up another one yourself?

Maybe it is your router and it's probolly having some probloms. Try going to the company's website that made your router and check if they have a furums, and try asking help there. They probolly know whats going on.

Keep trieng and good luck. I spent 2 weeks treing to get my new router work with StarCraft. :/

hmm....what I meant was, I tried another comp with a hard line and it had the same problem.
Also, I cannot create another account. Any computer in our house takes infinite time downloading the terms of use agreement. I could ask Cpt. Chronic to, he made the account I am trying to use.

Sounds like a router problem, which I have no clue how to fix :/

I did make you another account on the US West server. Same name/pass as before. You can try that out if you haven't yet, but I doubt it will do any better.
