Of course you can. I just installed SC and BW a few weeks ago on my XP box. I didn't have any problems installing it, but I just bought new CDs, so they may have a new installer. I'd look on the Blizzard support site for a new installer or something with "XP" on it.

It might be the CDs, or a virus, or a trojen, or something else. Try virus scanning your comp, or try another SCCD.

:s It just froze? Right at the end? Like you been waiting for 30 minutes and still nothing happend? Do you have enough memory in your computer, eh you probolly do.

I don't think having XP makes any problom. Ok, go to Start>>Run>> and type D:\ and press the ok button. A window should pop-up showing all the files in the disc. Copy the 'INSTALL' program and past a copy on your desktop. It should take about a couple minutes... then try running the install from your desktop. This will allow the Installer to run more smoothly than when you were doing it on the disc.

Here; I never used them before, but with the name "scfix" it's worth a shot. I downloaded them form Creepcolony.com, the disciption for these files is that they fix your install.

Ok, make sure your computer has enough memory (80 mb) for StarCraft. To check the mem. space, go to My Computer and right click "Local Disk (C:)" and click properties. If you have a couple GB thats fine.

Unistall StarCraft with Windows Add and Remove Program in the Control Panel.

VGA MODE
VGA mode doesn't run as much program in the background. Reboot your computer while holding the F8 key, keep holding it until this screen shows up.

Select 'Enable VGA Mode' and hit enter. The visual may be diffreant later on, but don't worry. Try to run the Install again. Doing this, no background program will interfere with the installing. When your done, you can reboot your PC and run Windows normally.

I get jittry doing stuff like that >.> Anyway if none of the above ideas work I suggest you try the compatablity wizard. Its in the accseeorie foulers on the star menu. When it opens it will ask you what program you want to run it for. Select browse and find the install.exe after that expirement with the diffrent options. I would try the "disable windows XP visuals" first. Thats the one that cuased me the most grief...

Hmm, somehow I doubt it. When switching from my 2K OS into the XP I decided to install everything up again while was at it and SC-BW didn't caused any triffles and works fine.

What am suspecting is that that is an illegal copy or at best a scratched CD.
If scratched scenario, just do as the above (members) stated and ask for Blizz's support site/phone line. ;)
