View Full Version : C&C Wanted: Beki's new site
http://www.kupatrix.net/projects/bekisite/index.php
I was wondering if those of you who have the time, could take a look through this site for me -- offer some C&C on it. And also help spot any potential bugs or errors before it goes live.
Oh, but if all you have to say is "orange sucks" you can bugger off =P
I just want to see what yall have to say about it.
Oh while your at it, take a listen to a few of her tracks =D
Thanks.

I think it looks pretty good, orange is teh sucks ;p. As I already told you on IRC the pic of her in the corner gives me nightmares -- it also makes her look like a man. Other then that it looks pretty good; however, I think there should be mouse-rollovers on the buttons. Why? Because I say so.

It looks pretty good. I know you dont want to talk about orange but the orange and black makes it look like halloween :P. My only recommendation is to stretch the background 100% vertically or make the image fade away as it goes down because right now it looks kind of awkward

Looks pretty good Neo :). Simple and not too busy
The only thing about the orange (Yes I'm going to comment on it ;)) is a tad bright shade, and this becones especially apparent when there is alot of text eg The "Beki" page.but meh I'm nit-picking on this one. Sorry :P
I agree with Ice on the background. Looks awkard cause the bit sticking out on the left from under the main layout is pretty distinct with the guitar strings and all, but on the right side it almost merges into the page background and I almost did not see it, which made the guitar image seem like it was misaligned. If I save the image and see only that, without the merging background, it looks much better.
And omg!! BH you're right .. Neo can you please do something with that image on the top right corner O.O
Lol.
The layout is a fixed layout... meaning i didnt want anything to stretch.
I used that picture so that most of the text for any page would be near the bottom right corner/right side where the background is pretty solid (since reading text on a busy background is just annoying).
Most pages were supposed to have images on the left side, but for some of them it just didn't seem like a good idea (ie: her father's memorial thing, her reviews page, etc...)
And yes I understand that you people don't like the orange, but pfft. I think its kind of neat and different from most sites.
Besides you have to keep in mind shes a musician -- and she likes orange, so it wasn't my place to argue.
Thanks everyone for the comments, most people who've seen it like it (generally if not the orange =P) just wanted to make sure there weren't any glaring problems. And yesh, let that corner picture haunt your dreams~!!! (kidding! lol)
EDIT: Technically I could've gone with a stretchy design, and stretch the right side of the pic out all the way, but that would've been to much work, and frankly, would've probably have looked really ugly. I should also mention that the site is best viewed in IE (or FF) with a 1024x or greater resolution. It also helps if you can see the entire layout without needing to scroll (for example, in IE, but in FF you have to scroll a little if you have a favorite bar/some such up top).

Meh, this chick needs to get some decent photos uploaded. She looks like she's a part-time hobo. The layout seems...small. There's too much negative space everywhere, and finding stuff is somewhat difficult.
Pictures have been an issue (There are some really nice onces -- but most of those are for her family only/friends) Though 2 of my favorite ones are the Black and White one of her on that Chronogram review page and the one of her and Yank on the main beki page (I wish I could use that more prominently, I considered using it on the index, but the site is supposed to be about her, not Yank).
It does seem kind of small when you use a large resolution, but its not really aimed at gamers/others with high res's.
I wanted the site to be easy to navigate -- Beki gives you more info and stuff on her (of which there is a lot, but the normal visitor or fan probably don't care about her past reviews, or of her discography, but rather want to know if shes got any upcoming shows, and/or if they can hear some of her music). Media takes you to tracks of hers, or videos, and Gigs take you to a list of recent // upcoming gigs (though my list is a bit old, shes yet to sent me an updated one).
Thanks for the feedback though. I just wanted to make sure it was readable // no glaring problems. The way others were talking about it made it seem that the orange text was impossible to read and such.
...rambling...
Also a bunch of work was done on converting the site to a CMS for her, and that was hard. I think I still am missing a few things (for instance, to see what I had to work with check out the existing www.bekibrindle.com). And also setting her up with an easy to use gallery system.
