I'm trying to turn this site >> http://www.acerbic.com.au/victim/victim.html
more into this (which, using a screenshot from the above and photoshop, I mocked up an idea)
http://www.warboards.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=3147&stc=1&d=1143455938
what would I have to do to separate the 2 sides?

disregard the above post - I started using dreamweaver, tell me what you think:

If I had just randomly come across this page, I would have been a little irked that I needed to horizontally scroll just to read the text of the page. I'd recommend you use CSS for positioning stuff on the page, but if you're absolutely wed to the having those banners at the top and such, at least put the page text on the left side so people with lower resolution don't have to scroll to read.

I agree with Modred, I would use CSS and make it single column because I can see both columns but that's because I'm running a slightly larger then usual resolution (1280 x 1024). Also, take out the music player because 1) most people already listen to music when they're on the internet and although you may think your musics good, it doesn't mean they think it is and may not appreciate having to shut your music off and 2) when I click the pause button (or any button for that matter) it just takes me to your radio site...unless that's what you want it to do. If you DO want it to redirect to your radio site I think a simple button would suffice.
Any music on any site should specifically start "paused" when the page is loaded -- never force sound on someone. Let them choose. Unless its specific to the page and I mean super-specific -- ie: a low volume aeris theme for a character page on her.
Also, make sure that said volume IS low. I believe many players auto-sets the volume for web sounds to 100% which can be really annoying, not to mention dangerous.

the player will not start automatically and it's only going to have 20-30 second clips of songs that they can select to preview before they decide to download the album or not
the site is set up specifically to preview the album, not as a homepage or anything

on my mp3 player on the site I can set it to start at a low level and for you and modred, there's no mp3s on the site yet or any music so IDK what you guys are hearing O_o
Lol sorry link, its just a pet peeve of mine.
Oh btw, you should be interested to know that your site is apparently very popular. I've been registering a lot of hits for it.
