My first successful non-fastmap game ever.
2v2 on lost. Me terran, my ally protoss, against 2 terran.
By the fact that we won alone, not to mention I was the most helpful part, I assume they must have sucked.

This was so....incredibly different.
Now I know why I always play fastmaps.
I can go 1v3 on a fastmap, and yawn. Even if I lose, there's just no thrill.

In this game, my heart was pounding like I was about to have sex for the first time :)

Anyway, posting a rep, hoping for some comments
(I already know I'm not the master of the universe, so comments like "You suck, they sucked worse" are quite unnecessary).

Ya, I have many of those heart pounding experiances a lot, exspecially when I too switch out of Fastest Maps 3 years ago. I'm glade your first experiance on a non-money map was a great one, I hope you will continue to enjoy playing non-money maps.

When I was about to do my first drop (2 vultures with spidermines, and 3 marines to keep enemy occupied while the vults planted the mines), and the dropships were flying towards his base, my heart was pounding like crazy.
Not relaxing at all. But oh so much more exciting than playing fastmaps.

I'm still a little too coward to play 1v1 though, so I'm hoping to find a few more 2v2 games (though I actually had to come to my ally's rescue, so maybe I'd been better off without him).

One of the terran opponents skipped vultures and tanks alltogether, and went for straight gols, which is why he lost.

My second drop consisted of 3-4 tanks, 3-4 marines and 3 vultures, and his gols didn't stand a chance. Also, he had like zero turrets up, so my dropships could drop without problem. So he wasn't the best of players.

Still, there was an opening (albeit completely obvious), which I saw, and made use of. Could have had a worse premiere.

His ally (also Terran) had a more diverse force. No gols, but a good amount of marines, vultures and tanks. But when his ally was crushed (by me, yeah!!!) and left, he left too.

Hopefully I can get away with playing a few more games tonight.
Again, if my nerves can take it.

More comments, tips, suggestions? Anyone?

Can't watch the replay right now, but I had a question. How did you use static defense? On money maps I feel like if I don't create a ton of static defense I'm going to get owned, but that's not as true for normal maps is it?

Well, the game was kinda short, and I had an ally who scouted kinda early.
My defence was kinda minimal...just a bunker at the choke, basically. Didn't get the chance to build a defence in the base, because I saw an opportunity to drop one of the opponents. After the 3rd wave of drop, he left, then his ally left, and the game was over.

I have now played 3 more games, and lost miserably.
Two 1v1 and one 2v2.

Got too caught up in sneaky tactics like dropping (which he didn't lose enough from) to notice he was building a hell of an army. Then he dropped the shit out of me.

Oh, well. More practice.

You should build minimal defense, and while they are attacting you sneak out of your base a different way and attack their base. They should be too distracted attacking you to keep you from destroying their base. I never tried this before because I can't get on Battle.net.

That would be nice. Hard to say when I'm on though...
I'm the european server, but I guess I could create an account on one of the US servers too.
But with gf and kids, it's hard to say when or how long i'll be on.
