Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today is the one of the few days of the year where ethnicity holds no power and people are universally invited to share a pint, a 60, a keg or which ever amout of alcohol you wish to drink but St.Patrick's day wasn't originally a drinking holiday was it?

Let's take a look into the past and see what happened:
St.Patrick's Day honours the patron saint of Ireland. It is celebrated on the 17th of March. Many people celebrate different ways, some by dancing others by marching in parades, but most of us drink. People often wear green in the memory of Ireland and their green is accompanied by shamrocks and 3 leafed clovers.

March 17th wasn't the day St.Patrick was born but it was the day he died. This is because the date of his birth is unknown.

St.Patrick was born in Scotland ( go figure :P ) and studied religion to be come a priest. He later moved to Ireland to teach people of the ways of God. St.Patrick was a good man. There are many good stories of him. The most famous legend was that he drove all the snakes out of Ireland. This didn't happen, however if you ask an Irishman, he will tell you that there is not a snake throughout the whole country of Ireland.

Well now that that's been cleared up, the guy didn't do a whole lot but it gives us all a reason to be stupid, so why don't you go for it. Don't be so stupid as to hurt yourself but hell, it's on a friday this year. Instead of doing homework, play a game or go to the movies. If you're old enough to go drinking, well I suggest you get to it. People on campus have been drinking since 10:30am.

Should you really be drinking? I mean you are only 14, thats kinda early. Well since you're stuck at home anyhow why don't you talk to your parents and see if your girlfriend can come over and you guys can watch a movie. Even to talk about sleeping with your girlfriend is a little more information than we all needed to know.

There will be many more occassions to drink when you're a bit older.

A funny little story I heard on the radio:-

An Irishman called Shamus walks in to a church, sits down at a pew and starts to pray, saying "Please God, let me win lotto, or I am going to loose my farm".
When the day of the lottery comes around and some one else wins, he go's back to the church and prays again, "God, I have lost my farm, please let me win lotto so I don't loose my house".
Once again the day of the lottery comes around and sure enough some one else wins, so again he go's back to church and prays, "Please, Please God, let me win lotto, I have lost everything, I have always been a faithful and loyal servant, so please God let me win lotto so I can get my life back in order".
Suddenly there a thunderous boom through the church and then the church was filled with the voice of God and he said “Look, Shamus, you have to meet half way, will you buy a bloody ticket".

I give Chibi the award for best holiday post by actually giving background information about the holiday. :P

What did I do? Well, I was going to sit around and do some design work but I got invited to an internet cafe to LAN with some friends. We ended up playing CS and I kicked their combined asses. It was awesome :).

Then I went home, watched 'Jarhead' (great movie, the books really good as well) and then gamed some more :).

I went to the beach with a bunch of friends. It was really fun..the water was cold, but it felt great, and we built a kickass sandcastle.

God googli-moly, where do you live?! I think the temperature over here maxed out at 60, then plummeted to the current 30 degrees. Jumping in the water over here would be difficult, as it is just a step above ice right now.

What's cool about Ohio is that during the summer, we can get a temp of 90-100 degrees, but during the winter, it can get cold enough to freeze a lake solid enough to drive a Semi truck over the top. Mmm, schitzo weather.

Sometimes we have droughts too. Then it's just hot and muggy, so you think it's going to rain but it never does. It's snowed here twice in my memory, only once did the snow not melt before it hit the ground, and that was Christmas a year ago. We got about.....4 inches and everyone was excited and took pictures.

I went to work, where I wore a green shamrock sticker on my name tag, lolz :P

Then I came home.......And went to my dad's house. Normally we wouldda had corned beef with cabbage, but we were too tired to go out :P

Oh! And in the morning on my way to work, I called Nissa and her family to wish them a happy St. Patrick's Day :D
