A friend of mine asked me: "you can do this once but if you do it twice its a crime"

and I haven't been able to figure it out... it's driving me nuts. I was allowed tons of yes/no questions... but I don't have the time to search through the discussion and find them all.

Does anybody know the answer?

Marriage? Do it once, and it's legit. Do it again (Without divorse), and it's a crime?

I thought of that one...

I finally whined like a little girl enough that she told me.

The answer left me less than happy... it was "voting"

But if you vote for someone twice it's bad... but it really isn't all that bad, I like Geno's answer better ;)

Is it a crime when a dead person votes more than once?

Noo... the answer is Double Jeopardy. That means that if you are charged with a crime once, it's illegal to charge you with the same crime again... "You can do this once but if you do it twice its a crime."

See?

A crime and an illegal act are not synonymous. A crime is a criminal act that has occurred whereas an illegal act need not have occurred to remain illegal. Yes, it's semantics, but technically you're incorrect.

Yes, but the riddle talks about DOing something in it. "You can do this once but if you do it twice its a crime"

You can charge some one with a crime once, but to do it twice is a crime.

The crime is the commision of an illegal act. Double Jeopardy is an illegal act, futhermore, if you chose to commit it, it is a crime.

You're hanging by a thread of semantics. I'll agree to disagree. ;)

That's fine all long as we all get along... and then enjoy the occasional strawberry Yoo-hoo.

Delicious.

What a shit riddle. I've voted (at least) twice and it wasn't illegal (we vote once a year here).

Noo... the answer is Double Jeopardy. That means that if you are charged with a crime once, it's illegal to charge you with the same crime again... "You can do this once but if you do it twice its a crime."
Ooh, someone's been watching movies!
