And it had a demo for LoTR: Return of the King inside. Seeing as my computer is brand new, I went to instal it, only to discover that while my computer is plenty powerful, it cannot run the game.

And you know why?

...

The graphics card isn't ATI or Nvidia, its the standard Intel built into the motherboard. The game only requires a 32mb card, and I've got a 64mb, but I still can't run it because I don't have the correct brand (and I won't have a chance to upgrade for a few months due to a shortage of cash...).

Is this not silly?

If the PC version is anything like the PS2 one, trust me, you aren't missing out on much being legions of orcs to cut in half or main in some other fashion.

I find it funny that so many people praised the graphics. I got a good look at the screenshots, and they aren't that good...in fact, they aren't very good at all. I don't see why it would require a powerful video card.

I had no plan to actually buy the game anyway lol, I just wanted to try out the demo.

The software probably requires hardware transition and lighting to work effectively, and most integrated video cards dont have that.

Yeah, see if you can find what version of DirectX you need and what you have.

I have v9, it requires v8.1.

Its the video card.

I already planned to upgrade my card so that Rainbow Six 3 would run smoother...I just don't have the money and my bday isn't for a month...so its annoying that the demo is useless.

<getting a last post out of a dead thread :p>
