I think that this is a question that seriously needs to be answered. For years, I've wondered whether or not the contents of a compound of substances from multiple states would be defined as when referring to how they enter the human body. As you all know, gases are inhaled, liquids are drunk, and solids are eaten, but how does one truly define the ingestion of multiple types? Perhaps the true answer to this is to redefine the field entirely, perhaps by creating an entirely new verb to refer to the act of ingestion for this type of substance.
