It's been a while since a last modded, so I gotsta take a bit of time warming up to it:)

For my next step, I want to get rid of all the pesky unknowns in both Arsenal 3 and IceCC. It'll be easier to mod then! I've heard of two ways you can overcome the problem of unknowns.

1 - I think I once heard that if you extracted something for Starcraft.exe you could get your list of units/sprites/flingy's/images updated for one of the programs.

2 - You can use Arsenal Zero to search for the ID number of something, and that'll do something helpful...

As you can see, I'm not really sure what I need to do, so that's why I'm here making a thread asking you guys to guide me, cuz your them best on the net an all:)

Ever heard of DatEdit? It actually solves like 90% of the unknowns in Arsenal III. For the rest, just ask me, I can tell you what they are (for instance, the weapon sprite "unknown 147" is actually the old lockdown projectile).

I did those a while back.

Ah that's great! Thanks for that!!

Shouldn't it be featured on SC.Org as a download? It would be really helpful!!

They are very frustrating to test on a slow computer. Also, what's this about dune 2? A mod or something? I have that game!

Yes you can trace through the ID numbers using Arsenal Zero, but I was under the impression DatEdit could do this for you. The truth is that after you learn how to trace through the ID numbers, most people don't even look at the name lists for flingy.dat, sprites.dat or images.dat because it's a more reliable way, and sometimes its faster. Although, now that the new name lists are out perhaps you won't need to do the tracing anymore. But if you've seen the sources to my mods, I work entirely in ID numbers and all my iscript files are called "flingy 208" or "unit 42" because I actually find it faster to trace ID numbers than to use a name list.

I remember writing some instructions about it for JarqaFelmu as a thread in this forum, try searching for it.
