I'm just wondering, what does gold do different?

Yeah me too. I don't see anything different.

We were already running on Release Candidate 4, aka. "Almost Gold". The only difference is some improvements to the calendar, and various security/bugfixes. Nothing really noticeable.
There are new icons in Gold but I hate them, so we're not using them :)

Who the fuck ever uses the calendar?
*ahem*
read the above.
you'll see soon enough.
As for other features.. I'm open to any requests.. the arcade is iffy.. i'll consider looking at it, but the version they've got at vbulletin.org is fairly bloatware.

OK AJ I have some requests, they are pretty simple but I think would be kick-ass...
Fulltext boolean search

To be honest, I hardly ever use the search option because it is so limited that it's not even worth my time.
Quick Edit! -Edit posts directly from within the thread itself

I edit all the time and this would make it so much easier.
Yeeha thanks for considering!

I'm not sold on the idea of Quick Edit. It's not exactly difficult as it is, and I don't I want to encourage "casual" editing of posts. Aside from that, the hack slows down every page view by a little bit, in exchange for a faster edit function. I don't think that the tradeoff is justified. I'm sorry, but you'll have to suffer through those terrible clicks of the Edit button ... ;)
As for the fulltext search, I would love to install that hack, but it has a huge problem with server load. I'm not going to touch it until someone figures out why it uses 10x more CPU than the traditional search. (It's a puzzle that I don't have time to solve; I hope the vB.org guys figure it out soon.)

OK sounds like you have good reasons. But I really would like it if we found a hack somewhere that facilitated those kind of search options, are there others besides that one?

Emination I'm glad to see that your necromancy skills are in tip-top shape.
Just in case you are wondering,
I figured out that we already have these search features.
