View Full Version : The Map Testing Depot
I'm sure that this idea has been thought of before and I've even created a thread on the subject that was for my own personal use but I was wondering... Would anyone be interested in particapating in a Map Testing Depot type of thing? The way it would go is: I'll head it up and various people can post maps on here that they'd like other people to test. Then a few people who we could all accept as being good mapmakers could test them and leave feedback on what they thought about it, give it a rating, say what they liked, didn't like, and so on.(I was thinking of letting everyone particapate in the testing but I didn't want things to run out of control) So, anybody like this idea?(I'd like at least five people with a positive response) If so then I'll post rules on posting your maps. If not then TO HELL WITH YOU ALL!!! (lol Not really:P )

I'm not to good with terrain and features, but I am really experianced with triggers. And yes, I would like to participate in testing maps.
So I'm assuming that there's another vote.
Come on guy lets hear some FEEDBACK!!!

I'll test sure, but unless it needed(Mod for instance, or friend requests, or i get some help) I don't make maps..I have my reasons, and i will not tell.
There's Three. Two more come'on guys.

In fact, I am asking my cousing if he would like to make a map with me..If he accepts, i will post here when it is near/finished
i'd love to help out here. i'm quite fluent with staredit and am good with triggers, and would be happy to provide commentary as well as rate maps and suggest improvements. Though it's quite difficult to do this on StarCraft, I excel at making the environment on maps look absolutely unbelievable. I don't know how, or why, but I'm very good at it. Especially with WarCraft III, since it actually uses real terrain on this Earth, instead of made up doodads and tiles from say, ashworld of staredit....no basis in reality. How exactly do you plan for this to work out?
That's four.
I'll post the rules as soon as I get yote No. 5. COME ON GUYS! ONE MORE VOTE!!!

Okay here's the rules as I promised.
RULES FOR POSTING MAPS
1. All maps must be origanal.(No knock offs of L.T.)
2. All maps must be of normal Starcraft size. (No odd end sizes like 80x80)
3. Map types that may be submited can be UMS, Melee, Defence/Offence maps.
4. NO maps may have over the unit limit in Starcraft.
5. All maps wil be given a grand total of Ten(10) days to be judged/rated.
6. Absolutely NO bickering or fighting about map ratings as all ratings are final and are soly corsponding to thier respectful submiters.
7. And finaly: Have Fun That was the purpose I created this thread so that people could have fun rating each others maps (sorta like the BW Replay Thread). These ratings don't have to mean anything its just a place where you can get a public opinion on how well you make maps.
I'll post any other rules that may need to be posted as this thing grows.
And now I offically declare the: Warboards Map Testing Depot open!

I thought of that but then I figured that every one would want to post UMS maps so I changed it to UMS, Melee(Same as TvB) and Offence/Defence maps.
2)Why not edit? Tryina get that post count up?
No. Edited post don't appear as "Unread". I wanted to make sure that every one saw this.

I don't want every one here posting just any maps. Since Melee, UMS, and Offence/Defence maps are what many people play these days I put them in only.

Ha, u realize most clans in sc ARE COMPLETELY POINTLESS. But a good chat is pretty cool and the ranks ANY WAY BACK TO WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY.
Is there actually going to be judges, cuz thatd be cool, but.... have like a public rating, and a judge rating (3-4 judges?) , thatd be cool. If any judges can ya select me ??? LOLOLOL :D

Yes there will be judges. Mongoose41 and Fod are two of them. If you'd like to become a judge you must have a least 3+ years of solid mapmaking under your belt. There will be 4 judges.
... If you'd like to become a judge you must have a least 3+ years of solid mapmaking under your belt. ...
Sorry for the inquisitive question, but how do ya expect folks to prove that they have at least 3 years of mapping under their helmet? :shiftyl: I've been mapping longer than that but can't prove it since when uploading my older maps, almost assuredly the original date will get screwed over. That or those are ongoing projects that get the latest date after each save.
Btw, ain't joining nor applying to be one of the judges since lately my time at the PC with a Net connection is almost strictly for work but am curious to find out how you can get that done.
Am able to help (with comments on maps presented) as long as I've got the time to see and test'em carefully as much as I try to do regularly when someone asks for assistance 'round here. :)
I guess that just comes down to trust.
