Some big games are coming out, mostly im interested are the two listed above. Im guessing that we are all blizzard fans and will go with WoW (Specially since all the info looks awesome) BUT Eq was/is one of the biggest MMORPG of its time. I know i logged on many hours on that game and it was fun. Well do you think anyone will actually play both??? I doubt it, maybe some few hardcore personal. ANywayz.... Im rambling on... WoW will be a great game which im sure EQ2 will be as well, but im sure ill stick with the blizzard family

meh I have no desire in playing games to which I have to pay an extra monthly fee. WC3:FT is as far as I go till SC2 or WC4, and I won't be holding my breath for either of them to be created anytime soon.

I have a feeling that MMOGs are the future of gaming. Yes, there will always be the non-monthly fee ones, but will they truly be as good in the future as games that companies develop because of just how much profit they can make versus an off-the-shelf game that only gets them a one-time fee of $30 or so dollars?

i wish it was about the game, and not the amount of money you made off of it.
cause as much as id like to waste my 2nd year of college playing wow, i dont think ill be able to afford it, because right now im living off my part time job and student loans :)

I’m with DC on this. I will not play this game enough to pay a monthly fee. The only way I will play WoW is if I get the beta.

I dont play games that you have to pay extra cash to play. I understand that MMORPGs are very different from the other blizzard games so far, but blizzard has had battle.net running for a long time for free and they obviously havent gone out of business or anything. Ill just stick with D2 for now...
Im not enterested in either games especially since gay monthly fees. I dont like that many RPGs.

It will probably be possible to play WoW on a non-battle.net server for free.

WOW isn't using battle.net, that would suck worse. There are so many immature people on there. OMFG U SUCK ME 1337 W00T

But immature people are usually rich 12-year-olds who play games all day. :( They'd be able to buy WoW and play it humongous amounts :(

It won't be possible to play WoW (very well at all) on NON-Blizzard servers.
Trust me... 12 year olds will have access to pay-to-play games if they want to. I've bought access to porn websites when I was 13ish with my parents' credit card and they'd be like "WTF is this on my bill???"

I don't see how everyone is so against paying monthly fees for gaming! I've been intrigued by MMO games for the past year, and during this time, I have played a variety of MMO games myself (some of which were horrid, others were quite decent). The monthly fee is assurance that we'll get a quality product, and we'll continue to get a quality product, as long as we keep playing. Teams and GMs are set up in most MMO games to add events, and content while you play the game. This, my friend, is the future of gaming :): An endless game.
Now, some of you may complain that it's ridiculous to pay 10-15 bucks a month for a measly game, when you can play war3 online for free. Many threads in the past have proved this statement somewhat inane. To make reference to one such thread:
If you pay 5 bucks for a movie and some popcorn at your local movie theatres three times in a month, you've already accumulated the sum of money that you would have to pay for the game. Now, assuming that each movie runs about 2 hours each, you've received 6 hours of entertainment from the movie.
In comparison to the amount of entertainment you would be able to receive from World of Warcraft, you are getting ripped off at the theatres :P. World of Warcraft, at 15 bucks a month, could assure you, if you're addicted, literally dozens of hours of gameplay each month. Goodbye boredom :P.
As far as EQ2 Vs. WoW goes:
I used to look at EQ2 in disgust in the early days. Its attempts at making realistic graphics were failing miserably, and in comparison to World of Warcraft's spiffy cartoonish looks, the EQ2 graphics were . . . really quite sad. However, as they've worked on the engine, and worked on EQ2 in general, the graphics have improved tenfold. I must say, the new EQ2 graphics look spiffy! (I still like the cartoony WoW graphics better though :P).
As for how the gameplay will compare, I'm sure both games will rival eachother.
EQ2 has some experience with MMO gaming, but also promises to keep some of their tactics used in EQ (which may, or may not be seen as a fallback). As far as I'm concerned, EQ2 will reign in popularity as far as PVP combat is concerned. It will also be very popular with all of the EQ fanatics. People will look to a game that they are already familiar with, and a game they know the developers are devoted to. EQ had an astounding number of updates and expansions, and I'm sure EQ2 will follow suite.
Blizzard, on the other hand, is new to the MMO gaming scene. Although as a game designer they may be inexperienced, their staff are in no ways new to MMO. Blizzard's staff has helped them in creating a game that they've stated is applicable to all types of players. It will likely be much less complicated to play than EQ2, but I have no doubt in my mind that it will still be incredibly enjoyable, and challenging for players that search for a good challenge.
In other words, I know both games will do great :P. However, I'll be playing World of Warcraft :D.
I dont play games that you have to pay extra cash to play. I understand that MMORPGs are very different from the other blizzard games so far, but blizzard has had battle.net running for a long time for free and they obviously havent gone out of business or anything. Ill just stick with D2 for now...
Because MMORPGs are ever changing, it requires constantly attention and that cost money. Battle.net is still free for WC3, D2, SC and etc.
